Whenever there are cultures of greed, egoism, cover-ups, complicity, plus 'ends justifying means', institutions tend to deflect, dismiss, evade and just-plain-enable wrongdoing. MSU, PSU & SPVB are "shining" examples of this (not to mention USOC, AAU, USAV, NCAA, et al). The Main Thing now is to support the numerous(!) victims/ families; & to jointly say, loudly + clearly: ENOUGH! This entails aiming said message to: corporate sponsors; club organizations; national orgs, etc. Hurt their bottom line. How do you decide where to place hyphens and exclamations?

Hey, Village, there you go again—relevant as ever. See what you did there? How about contributing in a meaningful manner? We would love to hear your opinion on all this, instead of throwing dirt on dirt. Aren’t you happy the legislature is taking action? I know I am. What say you?

As a member of the thumbs up community, I have to say that one was at least funny.

First of all, multiple people have liked that post. Secondly, I'm actually curious about it. Third, I've expressed my opinion multiple times in one of the several locked Butler threads. Fourth, it's a comment that has no ill-intention and tries to lighten the mood and bring a little bit of humor from such a serious subject. Fifth, why do you and people like yourself have such an issue with my posting? I don't understand this need for everyone to call me out. I mean, I thrive off the attention, but I don't get it.

Uhhh, dude! You have been informed by myself (plus numerous others) as to the answers to the above (decidedly self-serving) questions. As for "likes"? Fellow snarks, trolls, + idiot-morons?

“I thrive off attention, but I don’t get it.” Aw, poor VI, needing some love when the rest of us are trying to sort out what to do with a child molester among our VB ranks. Hope you get some attention soon so you can get back to helping us figure this out.

Some of you better take your personal fights to messages or I'll give you a timeout. Stick to the topic of the thread.

Here is more information from NPR about the hearing that took place last week. I think it has some additional valuable information for those who would like to find out the truth. Illinois Senate Tackles Sexual Assault In Youth Sports nprillinois.org/post/illinois-senate-tackles-sexual-assault-youth-sports#stream/0In terms of reporting all kinds of abuse, it cannot be stated enough parents or players should report directly to CPS or Local Law Enforcement. Reporting to another coach, Club Director, Athletic Director, or NGB is not enough. They are not trained to investigate these types of cases. One other benefit is false allegations are reduced when reported to Law Enforcement vs the other parties.
IMO your last paragraph is very important. In retrospect, situations such as Butler, Nasser, or Sandusky (and many less publicized) may never have become a hot topic in current times had just one person called law enforcement. Also not only are the people in the positions you mentioned not trained investigators, they usually have a vested interest in the outcome.
USA VB CEO DAVIS TALKS BUTLER BAN IN CONGRESSIONAL TESTIMONY Later in the hearing, Rep. Jan Schakowski (D-IL) called Butler’s reinstatement “unacceptable,” criticizing USA Volleyball for allowing him back into coaching for 18 years after he’d been previously banned. I don't believe the kids should be punished. I was on the ethics committee for awhile.................. This is truly a case of the consequences should not affect the athletes. Most will agree on this. The Athletes should not be held accountable. It is not their fault. What "ETHICS COMMITTEE" were you on? Sorry I was traveling all this week and tied up over the weekend so i apologize for my delayed reply. To answer your question. Actually two committees. One long ago was for a hospital near where I used to live. Most recently I was on the board of ethics for the corporation I worked for for twenty years. I recently switched jobs. That particular corporation dealt with medical device production.
