She had knee surgery a few months ago. But she likely wouldn't have been playing much anyway - Plummer focuses on beach in a world championship year, and there is no U-21 WC in 2018. And given her trajectory as an indoor player, I wouldn't hold my breath that she chooses to play beach after graduation. I'm thinking MAYBE 2028 if we're lucky. If the money keeps going the way it is, at some point she may ask herself whether playing beach until she is 40+ and walking when she is 60 is worth more than playing indoor for a much shorter term and taking the injury consequences. If I were Donald Sun, every time I spoke to a top college player with options - if he ever does - I would mention Hyden is still playing at 46 and half the AVP is 40 then compare that to some top indoor guys with much shorter careers

Normally serving April Ross is a bad idea, but Alex's passing/setting was not pretty. In addition, April on two was missing given Alex's serve receive. I think the idea of Alex and Sarah is not a good one. April Ross was not the problem, and pairing Sarah with Alex would have the same issues. The more interesting question to me is, where would Kathryn Plummer from Stanford fit into the picture in the future? She's a legitimate 6'6", has played a fair amount of beach, and could partner with Sponcil. 2020 may be too tight a window for her, but if I'm a young defender, I'm thinking I would be courting her big time compared to Alex. I was wondering about Plummer as well. Anyone know why hasn't she been playing in the AVP's? I haven't paid too close attention, but have any other 2018 NCAA beach players besides Sponcil played AVP this season? Maybe in the qualifiers?

I think in the past she has said she wants to play indoor first, then after retiring from indoor, play beach.
