MHP and Pavan pull it out in three. 16-14 was the final with match point being scored by a net violation by Germany on an attack. They then challenged the play which was kind of bush league but regardless the Canadians take Gold and Bronze. I would say that they MHP and Pavan have regained their form and proved why they are still the number 1 team in the world.

I cant recall seeing a net like that, where a player hit the ball past the blocker and followed through and netted two feet down the net with her swing I think Sara/MHP are sort of tied with Fernanda/Barbara because both have two wins, but F/B havent done much lately. I think those 2 teams + Duda/Sude/Brandi/Antonelli seem like a solid top 6 right now. The women's side is so up in the air but also seems like it may end up almost how we thought at the start of the year (Duda and Pavan as the top two teams). Those poor Germans just cant get over the hump. I really like watching MHP and Laborer play because both are so fast. How many times does Sude make a poor touch on a block or a drop and you think its down but then Chantal somehow gets to it. She has to be in the conversation for best defender in the world. I dont know what Kira is doing right now, she is sort of playing but not really, but I would love to see her with Chantal for a couple events.

I can't argue your top 6 and yes as open as it has seemed I think the only really surprising team for me is Brandie and Heather. I would not have had them on the podium nearly as much as they have been this year. Ultimately, it's a disappointing year for American Beach Volleyball. The season is now roughly 3/4s complete and our team's just aren't getting it done. We barely have one team in the top 20 currently. Hopefully we have a better showing in Vienna but at this point I just don't see it.

We have three major tournies overseas left....Maybe one or two of our teams pull a rabbit out of the hat...Gives us some momentum going into 2019...

This tournament has been disappointing. Sorry to say...
Breakthrough and surprise was definitely Kelley and Emily Stockman. Props to them for grinding it out from CQ to Qualifications and grinding it out but came up short against Agatha and Duda.
The others— did below expectations.

She’s playing on the German tour. I assume she will start again next year on the world tour when Ludwig is ready.

If Sude didn’t touch that ball, it would’ve been their point since it was going out. It's great to see two Canadian teams on the podium at such a big event. Heather and Brandie are on a great roll, in every match they play, win or lose. BTW, they are not losing a whole lot right now. A week ago SP and MHP were, to quote some posters, "a train wreck". Posters went so far as to suggest that MHP should leave SP. Today, according to posters, "they're lucky". Maybe, they're just good? Fighters? Never say die? I have to agree that a week ago, they looked like anything but a top 10 team, but give them credit for figuring things out in a few days and turning their fortunes around. As for, "If Sude didn't touch that ball", well she did. She touched it because when she saw SP going up to swing, she believed that the probability of the ball landing in was high. By the same token, if Melissa doesn't get called on an open hand (even the announcers disagreed with the call), who knows. My point, plays happen throughout a match that are "if only" points (ask JR Smith). You win enough of those points, you probably win the match. That's what makes sport great and unpredictable. Congratulations on our 4 medalists. They have put us on the top of the beach volleyball world. Hopefully, it will continue, but we do know that from one week to the next anyone can emerge. That's what makes this game so exciting to follow.

That's what makes this game so exciting to follow. She touched it because the hit was so bad it surprised her and she couldn't pull back fast enough. Sara/MHP had a great weekend and beat two very good teams, but that play - which should have lost them the match - was absolute pure luck. I thought the MHP call was good, but refs are so inconsistent on that who knows what the correct call was. She also got called on a couple sets which was very unusual
