Humler's passing is worse than Stijn's and has some work to be done to reach that level and I really thought he was going to be more of an impact player. Jakob on the other hand has better skills and will be in the starting lineup next year. It will be a battle for OH2 next year and I wonder if Humler can play middle because he has the size and speed for that. Dimi unsure about, video is just that, need to see these players out of there element and playing with the different volleyball that we use in the NCAA.

The four redshirted Freshmen are no slouches, they all play really tough in their positions and I think people are going to be surprised how good they really are and they are only getting better with Milan's professor like practices and having to play against this years starting lineup.

Of the four the one I find impressive is Hogland ,he is very dynamic. With Hogland, Dimi and Cowell UH will have pogo sticks on the court.

I think Humlser’s passing look bad because he trained more at OPP then he does at OH. We are loaded with upperclassmen at OH(1st team has SVT and Cowell and 2nd team with Rosey and James). He will improve with more work in the off season.
As for Humler having more impact....where is he going to play. No room for him. All of our starting pin hitters are on course to be All Americans.

I read somewhere both our middles were smacked on the head or face during the series vs UCI. Is it because they were slow reacting to Irvine’s quick attack?

I think Humler will work hard in the off season to get his passing to be decent.
I think Dimi will be prepared to take over for Rado and next season it's to build and train him up for that.
I do notice that Humler is extremely expressive and fiery on the court in all his vids. Well, he hasn't shown any of that this season. He seems a little timid and a bit out of place when I see him. I do think its a comfortability issue with him and he is still trying to find his nitch. I say give him time and he will blossom.

Solbrig was hit in the face by either Schneidmilled or Nsakanda and then the ball went out. It was so hard that he flinched and had towalk away from the net a bit. He stayed in after that.

Rado will be the starting OPP in 2020, he's a proven commodity, not Dimi. If we're talking 2021, Rado will be gone and
Dimi is the likely starter, but Cowell will also be gone. We have a boatload of pin hitters returning for 2020: Cowell and Rado will start, Humler, Hogland, Johnson, Dimi, Galloway, and Anasstassiades will battle for the vacant OH hitter spot. We know Humler can hit, serve and block so he'll need to ramp up on his passing and digging but he has a leg up because of his PT in D1 and international play. Coaching staff must be high on him as he is the only frosh pin hitter that got any PT this year. Also in the starting mix is Galloway who is a terminator with major hops and appears to be a decent passer and D player. Coaches have a tough call to make. IMO, unless he flat out sucks at passing and D, Humler will get the starting OH2 spot next year with Cowell promoted to OH1.
a tough call to make.

Does emailing the coaches at Hawaii about some VB prospects ever work out in the past. I say this because I've emailed the coaches at Hawaii about some uncommitted mainland and international VB OH and MB prospects before, messaged them the prospects highlights and means to contact them, thinking that they could recruit the players, but as it turns out nothing came of it. There are still some MH/MB prospects that, so far that I know, have yet to commit to a program, but I don't know if I'm doing it right or maybe I should leave this job to the coaches. Your best bet is coach Walker.

I will be very surprised if Dimi is not one of the starting pins next season at least before big west play starts.

We have some critical pieces that we lose next year but we also return more starters than a bunch of the top teams. So Hawaii we be in the hunt for sure after this season.

If Dimi starts in 2020, that bodes very well for the future of Hawaii Men's volleyball. If he does start, it will be as an OH. IMO, very unlikely he displaces Rado (.500+ hitter and averaging nearly a block per set) at OPP. He is also the BWC leader in aces per set and has served up more aces than errors this season which is a rarity for a starter. I just don't see it happening...this guy is money! Cha-ching!

There is a caveat, if the coaching staff believe it's time for Rado to move to OH because of his improved D then its possible for Dimi to be next year's starting OPP. This is a very remote deal because we haven't seen much of Rado's serve receive game since he's been here. Highly doubt this materializes but weirder things happen.

Rado is left-handed. That in itself makes a move to OH unlikely. I can't think of many men's or women's volleyball players who hit left-handed from the outside.
