Here is what I am thinking. Robyn has promised Choy the starting setter position, in 2020, if she does not have to use Choy in 2019. One year to learn Robyn's system and get familiar with the players she will be setting in 2020. That would give Lang one year to learn Robyn's system, and be the understudy to Choy. Lang would not have to be pressed into the starting position right off the bat. It would also give Robyn, two years to recruit another setter. We will all know this if Choy does not play in the first 11 matches. All this will explode in everyone’s face if Iosia gets hurt or is ineffective and suddenly, Choy is pressed into action. Of course, Robyn, and Choy, both understand this. Whatever is best for the team. Robyn is all about winning Volleyball matches, losing is like a Cancer disease to her. That is what I like about Robyn.

When coaches say that a player has a very high Volleyball IQ, I firmly believe Robyn Ah-Mow Santos's Volleyball IQ is off the chart. Just by how she coached last year's team.

Actually, all this will explode in everyone's face if it turns out that "[heart] University of Hawai'i Volleyball [heart]" doesn't really turn out to mean that she's coming to play for the Wahine. Maybe she just likes Wahine Volleyball because her idol, Robyn, coaches us. Maybe she is jumping on the Men's Volleyball bandwagon after their great season. She hasn't actually stated that she's coming to play for us this year (or anytime).

It won't really blow up in my face because I'm opposed to a one-year setter anyway. I want a transfer who's a rising junior.

Vballfreak808, mentioned it is official, but still has not made it official on the "transfer thread" yet, wonder why.

imho the best case scenario is either iosia, choy redshirts, they can run the show next year. same as what i thought should have happened to rosey

Bailey Choy can definitely help the Wahine. 3000 career assists, PAC 12 leader in service aces, 17 double doubles last season. Wish she had 2 more years of D1 eligibility to give, but you take what you can get. When was the last time Hawaii ever landed 3 PAC 12 transfers at one time?

Choy coming home really just solidifies this team We have two extremely capable d1 setters on this roster now. Its going to be an amazing season. Well need a backup for next year so maybe well still get that euro setter It's gonna be a battle for the starting spot for setter. May the best woman win and may both push eachother to their limits and than some.....Compitition makes sports healthy.......

Petra Melounova advances to Sweet 16 in NCAA singles championship. First UH tennis player to do so in history. Proud of her.

That narrows it down. Two local 2020 with announced commitments that would both be very good gets for UH: N. Spaar and K. Akana. Both with beach potential as well. Heck let's be greedy and hope for both, and for both programs.

Is this K. Akana the USC recruit and sister of Braelyn Akana? If so, I mentioned her first.

I see UH continuing the 6-2...with Bailey being a better version of Faith Maafala. Both Jolie and Hanna Hellvig are 6 rotation players so UH will still have the luxury of setting the 3 meter attack to both Jolie and Hanna. Last season, the only reliable 3 meter attacker was Granato.
The 6-2 does take away the setter jump dump so that will be one offensive weapon UH will not be able to use. Other than that, I think we will have better weapons all around to make the 6-2 run better. Having 3 attackers in the front row at all time could give UH's opponents fits.
