Watching USD upset USC, just saw a tall talented group get beat by a shorter less talented team. Good coaching, execution, good ball control, teamwork, focus and resolve were on the USD side of the floor. USD seemed the more Hawai'i like team only better pin hitters and steadier play. I think even with TVW Cal Poly would have had its hands full against USD. Last, anyone with a verbal commit to USC might want to reconsider. Proof that great talent doesn't always make a great team. Something is off kilter at USC.

Most likely freshmen to start at the top, judged from their footage I have seen:
1. Hellvig 2. Wagoner 3. Westerberg 4. Igiede 5. Akana

Breakout star for 2019 will be Williams. She reminds me of Magill. Listed at 6'1 but seems taller, lean, athletic, great blocker.

What I also believe Williams has to work on, as part of her offensive repertoire, is running the "slide". I believe she is quick enough to be a deadly offensive weapon running the "slide".

Reminds me of Heather Bown, hits hard and physical, love the latest clips of her hitting the slide. Hellvig is getting way to much hype, skinny girl that needs to get stronger physically. Wagoner, from the clips I've seen of her, she is not a terminator, she can pass and play defense, which are her stronger points.

Hey all! I have to give you all props on how positive the input has been to the recruits. I do agree the RAMS and Angelica have put a lot of thought and hard work in getting some great recruits.
Everyone keeps talking about Westerberg rightfully so. This girl can hit and she can move. I saw her at the Baylor game and she is fit. Great to see a new girl there with her family to support the Wahine!
The other girls also look outstanding and I agree the Westerberg and Williams can make a solid front row something that could put down! I'm curious your thoughts on having to strong middles one right after the other constant front pressure running special plays mixing it up. I think that is what we really need.
The team has depth we need a libero maybe there is one they have overlooked. We have the time.

Someone who can pass and receive, play solid defense, and a good OH2 player. Someone who will not hurt you at the OH2 position. But not a terminator type of player, like what a healthy Kalei Greeley was.

Yes...all those coming in look to have a solid volleyball background and big time potential. That being said, I do wish the returnees will step up their games BIG TIME, so to take the pressure off the Young freshmen.
Is it possible for UH to being next season with a lineup of?
OPP...Kirsten Sibley OH....McKenna Ross OH...Trinity Castaneda MB...Sky Williams MB...Kamalei Krug S....Norene Iosia libero...Rika Okino.
Probably not but I would like to see each one make stride so they could provide depth for this team. To count on 4-5 freshmen to contributors big minutes next season is a little unrealistic. I can actually see our starting MB being Sky and Kamalei with Tiffany Westerberg being at OPP. Ross could play big minutes since she have shown she can do the job once in a while. I think we need most in this order....1) a big time libero 2) a backup setter 3)a dominant left then 4)a experienced middle.

The two incoming players that could surprise people, I am thinking, could be Igiede and Akana. It would not surprise me if Igiede is one of the starting Middles, allowing Westerberg to move to either OH1, or OPP. Akana could surprise people at OPP, also.

Krug was behind all season due to her knee injury and still produced solid results. I think with a whole season of workouts along with removing her brace, she could be a force. We lose size with Burns leaving but will gain athleticism and quickness in both Williams and Krug.
Igiede have some great upside but I’m still concerned about her playing at a lower level in HS and have not seen the kind of quickness and speed needed to compete at the D1 level. Maybe it better to redshirt her, get her bigger and stronger, then get 4 solid year out of her. But we shall see. She could come in and wow us all with her hitting and power.

The time for the returning players to STEP UP BIGTIME, is this coming Spring. There is only a small group of returning players, just enough to fill up a starting lineup. These returning players will get a lot of one on one coaching because of it. Not like when there is a large group of returning players. So if any of the returning players are going to improve it will be this coming Spring. I for one, do not see McKenna Ross starting. She has shown that she is better coming in off the bench. She plays better that way, rather then when she starts. The surprise player to me, out of all the returning players, could be Trinity Castaneda. If any one should take advantage of this one on one coaching this Spring, it would be Trinity Castaneda. I just hope she does take advantage of it. We will find out next fall, if she did, or not.

The one thing about Igiede is that there is no video of her Senior year play, as far as I know. What we all can only go on is video of her playing in her Junior year. We do not really know how much she has really improve from her Junior to Senior year in High School. From all indications she improved a lot, from what her coach has said. I mean, she could have improved so much that she could be on the same level as Westerberg, who really knows. But that would be a BIG PLUS for the Wahine and Robyn, if she has improved that much.
