Having trouble with the Idaho roster. Anyone know anything about their starting line-up? This is their starting line-up. All Seniors. They would definitely give Hawaii a lot of trouble with a very veteran team. Kaela Straw Sr. OH 6-2 Sarah Sharp Sr. OH 6-4 Haylee Mathis Sr. Setter 5-11 Devonne Ryter Sr. MB 6-0 Reece Carman Sr. MB 6-4 Alycia Wodke Sr. Libero 5-8 If anyone remembers this program from the WAC, they are always very well coached, good blocking teams! Their go-to-players are Straw and Sharp on the outside, but also keep an eye out for their middles, especially Devonne Ryter, she is undersized but very quick.

Do they have some sort of opposite that gets subbed in? You pretty much had Idaho's lineup spot on in your original post. Carman isn't playing in the middle. She's playing opposite. She didn't play at all in the first weekend (they used Straw at OPP and Sharp/Warren at OH), but returned to the lineup against CSUN and North Texas. Idaho pretty much DS's all of their pins. As it was mentioned, they are a very veteran team with a ton of experience and were also picked to win the Big Sky. OH1: Kaela Straw OH2: Sarah Sharp OPP: Reece Carman MB1: DeVonne Ryter MB2: Nikki Ball S: Haylee Mathis L: Alycia Wodke DS: Becca Owen (Straw) DS: Delaney Hopen (Sharp) DS: Shannon Casale or Paige Rupiper (Carman)

Diggin': in doing research 'bout UofI for my other post, I found what volleyballfanatic1 did: yr original lineup was DEAD right-on, so I didn't comment. Carman's #s WERE low; she's OPP now.

Seems like UH is always the underdog for all these nonconference matches. That's good, cause if UH lost, no humbug, right?

My advice for RAMS:
1. Feed Gaskin the ball! Best to get her more involved to open up the pins and middles.
2. Don't use Iosia as a hitter. Insert Sibley, Ross, or Castaneda. Shoji has always used the OPP position to acclimate freshmen to NCAA level play, see, e.g., Kim Willoughby.
3. The 2-woman serve receive won't work with the better serving teams. Try to incorporate McKenna Ross or Faith Ma'afala into the serve receive pattern.
4. Don't redshirt Castaneda. She may not even play a 5th year when the time comes. From personal experience, many academic seniors just want to get out of college and enter the real world once they've graduated. They won't want to hang around a 5th year if they don't have to.
5. Faith Ma'fala should be a DS and used in serve receive. Let Iosia be full-time setter.
