May was good from 2017! As for the rest.... This is what's crazy to me. May and Mosser were both highly touted recruits and they really haven't lived up to their potential thus far. Hoping they can really improve this year and get UCLA back in the top 4 or 5 in the conference. The setter transfer from Portland is an interesting one. Portland sets a suuuuper fast offense (think Jim Moore at Oregon offense), so maybe that's the direction Mike is wanting to go for 2019. Sealy has always wanted his offense to just be shooting it out to a big banger on the left. He hasn't always been able to do that, but he wants to run it as fast as possible, and as often as possible.

She struggles to consistently pass but she always has. She is a good player tho and would start at most top programs. She’s better on the right IMO

UCLA could benefit from a little diversity! This is your first post and you have the temerity to suggest that UCLA is not diverse? Last time I walked around campus, I did not detect a diversity issue.

Per UCLA re. diversity:
Students: Asian 28.6% White 27% Hispanic/Latino 21.7% Nonresident Alien 11.9% Black 3.4%
Faculty: White 38.4% Hispanic/Latino 24.7% Asian 20% Black 8.5%
I'm surprised by the lower percentages of Blacks. I thought it would be much higher. For the Asians, my guess is that it's 50% Korean, 20% Chinese, 20% Indian, and 10% Other.

Problem is that UCLA can’t keep some of the Elite or even mid tier local talent home. It’s been a long trend that the Elite talent from SoCal go to Stanford, SC or some Big10 schools. Also the emergence of top local players going Beach ONLY. UCLA Beach has two players on the roster who were both highly recruited indoors in Sparks and Van Winkle.
Regarding diversity as it pertains to the volleyball team. Yes I’d like to see it, but recruits also need to WANT to go there. Otherwise it really doesn’t matter. UCLA is currently recruiting two players of color (big recruits) from the LA county area.....Let’s see if they can land them.
No shade to BEACH, Joy is killing the SoCal recruiting game. But when you think of the schools UCLA is on another level of education. When you have Starr Williams, Mia Tuiniga and other top recruits committing to LB it does make you scratch your head... UCLA needs to be landing these types of players.

I think the addition of Brad Keller to the staff will help this team a lot. The issue I foresee is whether Sealy will actually stick with a setter this year. He brought in a transfer and still has Chang. If he shuffles them all year, they are doomed.

Doubt joy will even be there long enough when those recruits make an impact. Problem is that UCLA can’t keep some of the Elite or even mid tier local talent home. I believe reasons for the low percentage of African Americans has been covered in College Confidential, a well known website. If an AA candidate can get accepted to UCLA, they probably can and will be accepted at other top tier schools. Some of those top tier schools are private and they will provide significantly more funding to the AA applicant.
