She was benched at SC. Showed great promise her freshman season, but never developed. Was very inconsistent, and it was not anything to do with coaching. From the moment she was beaten out, her attitude was in the toilet. Arms folded, long faced, wouldn't clap or cheer a good play, and would walk slowly to the huddle after a match win when other players ran. I think she couldn't stand playing with girls who were better than her, and SC had a number who were. ASU was a good fit. Alyse never developed? All the SC girls were better than her? Then why did Alyse Ford go 25-8-42 with a hitting percentage over .400 against USC in their last meeting? 25 kills on 42 swings ... pretty damn impressive You know better than to use 1 match as evidence against a trend. She couldn’t hack it at SC for whatever reason, and was having academic problems too IIRC.

I think you have all established that she reached her potential only after transferring from USC to ASU for her final year!

She played lights out good in that final game, no question about it. Now go back to the mid point of her Jr season and on to see what cancer on a team looks like.

Oops I thought I clicked on the D1 Transfer (2019) thread. Was I mistaken because there are 87 pages and less than half of the posts are actual "Player X is transferring to College Z" posts 😒

Heard from several coaches that she wasn’t a great teammate. I guess that doesn’t matter to some coaches. This is what happens when you only care about talent and you think you can change her. There’s a reason why she transferred. Being a Texas fan, I've seen her play against my horns 4 times in the 2 years she was at KU. Each time, she seemed just miserable or very unhappy. I took it to mean one or both of two things: 1) she hated to lose 2) she hated the Horns period I hate people who do analysis of "body language", so I don't know. But I'm very, very happy she's out of the Big 12 because she was v.v. good.
I wouldn’t say ASU is the best school to go to if you hate losing.

Anyone have access to the transfer portal? Heard that recently there was a libero that was listed who’s strongly considering Hawai’i.

Anyone have access to the transfer portal? Heard that recently there was a libero that was listed who’s strongly considering Hawai’i. We really don’t need another libero. We will get all the liberos coming back for next season and will be getting one from Texas(Georgia Via) that is coming in with the setter Kate Lang. With many of our incoming OHs being 6 rotation players, might not be enough PT to keep everybody happy. We need another experienced setter or an experienced middle.
