Our 2021 setter is solid. Mitrovich has been in the USA pipeline is regarded as one of the best pure setters in that class. Just doesnt get the hype because of being in the southeast. If we keep current players and commits, then by 2021 with her and Shaffmaster there is no doubt we will be competing for top of the ACC again....
IK DBK losing McHenry was big, but even before then I thought they were weaker than they should be...

I'm curious...what if UNC gets to, for example, the 50's in RPI and is 5th in the ACC....would we make the tournament? I had heard that the ACC might have 4 or 5 teams making it....not sure if that is because we are a P5 - or because many teams were expected to be in the 40's or better in RPI???

Not sure....the FSU win is good, but we really need to beat them again to increase our RPI dramatically. I also wonder how UL and ND do rest of the season with key players out....do not know how long Bent is out. But at this point, I do think UNC can finish top 5 in the ACC.

I think realistically... the Heels need to win out to even have a shot at the dance. (would give the Heels an 18-10 overall record, 15-3 in ACC)
They might be able to afford a single loss (BC or FSU)... but that's it.
Additionally... there needs to be certain combinations of losses between ND, Louisville, FSU, and BC (including the Heels beating BC and FSU) to really help the cause.

Futures last week had them at 88 if they go 14-14. I imagine they’ll be better than that (ID put my money at 16-12, so two more losses), but I agree that it still may not be enough. I’ll as blue to run the scenario for winning out and having one loss once he comes out with this week’s futures post. Such a shame that they didn’t have this recent form in the non-con schedule.

Current RPI is at 68 per release a few mins ago. They remind me of Cal last year.....poor preseason and good conference season and did not get in....we need to win out as leftyopp said in order for us to be in I believe. And if we get in, we probably will be playing a top 4 seed first weekend....

There first 3 matches (Minny, Wisc, and Cal) were pretty brutal. Beating Cal would have obviously been a feather... winning even two of those Sept matches, say Mich St (RPI 51) & VCU (RPI 55) puts them in a much better spot. The losses to Miami OH (RPI 116) & UNLV (RPI 120) look bad now.

6 of their losses are to current top 25 teams in RPI, and although they should have beat UNLV and Miami, at least they have lost to some of the best and have grown from it. Continued Growth and Development are key - just keep getting a little better all the time.

And I will say UNLV has won 6 in a row against some pretty decent teams including Boise State who took CSU 5 and is always in that conference mix. If the teams we lost to do well that also helps.
I like the growth I am seeing. Now we just need to protect home court.

Totally disagree, there is no short leash. Any other pin on the team who hit into the antenna more than once regardless of the sets would be benched. The FSU and VA lineups during the winning sets tell the story. Skylar has stepped up, played well and should be playing.

^^^^^ you may be correct. Best & hottest hand should be the one on the court. Wine did very well stepping in, I agree.

Wine is a solid passer and has been terrific off the bench recently.

I am in the minority, but I disagree that Wine should start....yes she has the hot hand....coming off the bench. Wine played as a starter all last year and hit .197 on the season. In the spring, she was a starter, and she struggled immensely putting the ball away. In the stretch that Harrison was out this year due to injury, she could not terminate as a starter and hit .143 including -.125 against Colgate with 16 attempts. On the year, while she hit for a high percentage against UVA and FSU, she is hitting .209. In games she has come off the bench she is hitting 0.395! Parker is hitting lower than Wine for the year, but has had many more attempts and started against stronger competition.
I am not say to not try Wine, but from my experience, some players thrive to be starters and others are better as bench players. Wine has not been able to handle the pressure of being a starter and consistently performing. She is performing when she is asked to come off the bench and fight for her spot and show she can produce. IN my opinion I think she is a better off the bench player.
