... except there are actually mountains, which can't be said for anywhere else in Big Ten Country. Hey! We have Mt Buckhill! Olympic skier(s) started out there!

I don't think any of us who enjoy the Pav are pretending it's ok for volleyball. It is to us. Sorry you aren't happy with it.
Much prefer it to Williams Arena.

Matt Ulmer said at one of his press conferences that it was at Penn State next year, at Oregon in 2020 and Minnesota in 2021. Oregon in 2020:) A nice Pinot and volleyball. I'm putting that on my calendar. Penn State, on the other hand, is there any reason other than volleyball to go there? Now that my son isn't in NY I have no reason to find several college (and sometimes baseball) sports things to do in a more or less line from here to eastern PA where I'd get a cheap timeshare every time. Those were the few times I made it to Penn St (seeing Gophers and Badgers a couple times each (all losses, unfortunately). Is the ACC / Big Ten challenge still going on next year, and if so who'd be hosting ? Edit: I forgot it's NC and FL state, not Louisville... Could wander around a bit more east if it's NC hosting.

JT, all those people who go to WA to watch basketball are miserable? I find that hard to believe. It's a great venue for viewing the sport/sports. I know because I did it for several years -- and the place has been renovated. Wouldn't want it to be empty, but 7500-8000 fans or more? That'd be cool. Yes, it's my opinion. I'll drop it. For now.

I know you said you'd drop it, but... What are your priorities and features for whether seating is "good" for VB? -- distance from seat to center-of-court (figure this is a reasonable point to measure to) -- rise/height above the court -- rise/height above the seats in front of you -- width of seat -- "depth" of seat (distance between your seat and the row in front of you) -- chairback vs bleacher/bench -- viewing angle/location (center court, end court, corner, ...) -- obstructions (including, though I assume we're all in agreement that it is an important feature, and negative) -- ? ? ?

Can we take the plethora of "the Pav sucks!" "You're stupid, it's awesome!" conversations to a different thread, so that people who are interested in talking about the 2019 Gophers don't have to wade through that to see relevant posts?

If you can't suffer to "wade" through a page or 2 or 3 or 4 of posts you don't find interesting, you're on the wrong Board. Be that as it may, I think 2019 ticket prices and the availability or lack thereof of good seats at the Pav, assuming the ticket demand doesn't decrease in the post-SSS era, are legitimate and interesting subjects for a thread devoted to Minn Gopher volleyball next year. And that would be the case even if there was no tradition on this board of using threads as the springboard for digressions.

There's really nothing else to talk about right now. I don't see the harm.
But I'll try another one: Who thinks the staff will remain intact for 2019? They've been together a long time, relatively speaking.
Who thinks a 6-2 with Nielsen and a transfer is at all possible?
Who thinks the Barnes-McGraw competition is a real thing?
Did anyone see Rubright play in the UA match? If so, what did you think?
Are there any players on the team people think have hit their ceiling? Are regressing (not to go too negative)?

A 6-2 is definitely more possible now than it ever was during the SSS years, especially if we do indeed pick up Miller. I guess I'm neither for nor against it at this point.
I do think Martin and/or one of Morgan, Pittman, or Rubright could be a nice second right side hitter for us.

Who thinks the Barnes-McGraw competition is a real thing? I think this is a case of "coopertition." I assume both ladies consider (L) to be more prestigious/important than (DS) but its much less of a difference than playing vs bench-support. Frankly, I'm not sure just how the roles differ, other than more court time and (it seems) more setter-backup. Have to say I really miss Dalianliz' setting. I hope someone can fill those shoes next year. I wasn't that impressed with any of the play, honestly. I think we set our expectations too high for the level of play that a bunch of (really talented) kids can throw together with just a couple days together.

Here's another just-for-fun question:
Who is the Minnesota bench player that you would most like to see gain playing time? Could be for various reasons.
I really like both Litzau and Zeimann as DS options. Both pass well and are pretty scrappy. I love Zeimann's on court demeanor, leadership, and bubbly personality.
I'm curious to see what Sheehan and Swider could do for us with more playing time as well.

True, but it's slightly more exciting than three pages of talking about the seats in the Pav. I actually enjoy hearing people's thoughts on stuff like this.

Would someone like Kylie MIller from UCLA actually be considering transferring to Minnesota? From what I have read, unless she is guaranteed to be our next season's starting setter, it appears she would not really be improving upon her present situation at UCLA. Or am I wrong in that assumption?
Could Hugh be thinking of playing 3 MB's again next year with Rubright beginning classes this next Semester at the U of MN? In the past, this has held true for some of the girls.
