12 elsewhere. Or 6 with FIVB and Open.
15 seems like a lot. They were able to run a 6-2, sub Kilkelly for Hart AND sub Sheehan for Hart and still didn't run out until the very end. Pretty sure they would have ended up with Kilkelly and McMenimen in the front row had that set gone longer.

Minnesota had one of the most sickening 6-2 systems with both Kelly Bowman and Lindsey Taatjes. Both setters played all the way around and would swing in the front row. What was incredible is that both could not have been above 5-11 and they would just tear up teams. I can still see Kelly Bowman ripping balls through a block. That was one of my favorite Minnesota teams. The best part? Taatjes had never played a hitting position before. KBow had in HS. Pretty gutsy move on the MN coaching staff.

On this topic, I don't remember Hugh ever running a 6-2. Situational, sure. But never for a full set. But maybe they did something like that in the Palmer, Tabberson, Schau, Howard era. They ran it the last 4 matches of the 2014 season starting somewhere in the Maryland match. Katie and Erica set while H. Tapp and Sarah Wilhite were on the RS with P. TAPP and Molly as the MHs. Daly and Goehner were the OHs.

Ack. 2014. What were they doing with Nora? Was she hurt? I don't remember.
That was a really weird season. The "waiting for Sam" year.

Started the season as the starting RS and then she became pretty ineffective (likely due to the injury or fatigue). Occasionally she would be brought in later in the season to hit/block in the middle and did a little better there but Lohman and the Tapps were mostly outperforming her. I remember her being very good in 2013 though.

If they had more season or time to use this lineup, I think they would have seen better results. Shoulda woulda

If you are going to continue to have a Hart - Kilkelly sub and you want to platoon Miiller & Miyabe opposite McM & Samedy you use up your subs in 2.5 rotation cycles. If you have not scored 5 points on your serve you will be out of subs before you reach 20. If you can string together e.g. 8 points while serving you will be much closer to 25 before getting into sub trouble. Sometimes you go into overtime also. The coaching staff probably has the necessary stats to start a 6-2 and then pause, revert to 5-1, if the game turns into a sideout battle, before resuming 6-2.
It was mentioned earlier that Oregon's DS Nuneviller was in the forecourt in that marathon set last December. I don't recall what MN did when they ran out of subs.
Based on the low necessity, frequency and/or effectiveness of setting Samedy or Rollins in the back row I think the 6-2 is fine, particularly if Miller isn't 100% (she sat out the fourth set on Saturday).

It was Van Sickle (now at Hawaii). I didn't see the match, but I'm guessing if Hugh ran out of subs he kept Hart in for offense as opposed to letting Barnes go through the frontline with a Willow Johnson at OPP. Which begs the question... Did Samedy receive serve last year? Cus this year Hart comes back to cover a sliver. Last year, assuming Hart was in (therefore Barnes was out), you had CC and Adanna backrow. I honestly don't remember who pulled back to receive (Hart or Samedy).

How so? It's 4 subs every complete time through, right? Wouldn't it be 3 complete rotations and then you still have 3 subs left? That's what happened in g2.

Hart-Kilkelly Bayley-Miyabe Miller-Samedy Six subs per full rotation.

Got it, I misread the post. I blame it on the formatting, however. I read the 3rd line as a sentence.
