Interesting that Indiana recently completed its brand new facility for volleyball and wrestling, Wilkinson Hall, at a capacity of 3,000. They must not think that there will be demand for much more than that or you would think they would have built a bigger arena. It seems like a decent size considering the Bloomington area isn't that big.

I think it would be a fare statement to say that most of the upcoming improvements at The Pav are being done in the areas to improve on the recruiting aspect of the sport. Yup. Recruiting and the student-athletes' experience (which are probably close to one and the same thing). Not having been a recruit, nor having had a child who was recruited, nor even having had a child, I am _not_ able to give an informed opinion, but my gut says that it won't provide as much improvement on recruiting as we and the U might hope for. I just have doubts about what things are important, and what are nice fluff, when a recruit is making her decision. (That said, I defer to those here who have a better view into such things.)

On the transfers thread, someone is pretty convinced that Kylie Miller is transferring in from UCLA to Minnesota. She is coming in January and will set for the Gophers in her senior season. Given the graduation of SSS and with Shaffmaster coming in for 2020, this would not be a shocking news story if it is true. yes

This is a bizarre post here, my goodness. The coach is extremely selfish because he wants to play his home matches on his home court instead of other team’s home court. And the fans going to the games are a cult. Wowza!!! More bizzare that you’re purposefully misframing and lying about what I actually said. That’s on you How am I lying? Just because you can't tell the difference between volleyball's homecourt and basketball's? I bet extremely selfish Coach McCutcheon can tell the difference.

Anyone think there is a possibility that Barnes might switch to libero? Or would prefer Barnes at libero, perhaps?
I get that the coaching staff is obviously trying to groom McGraw to be a four year starting L, which is fair. In my eyes though, Barnes was far more consistent during the final 3/4 of the season in essentially every defensive/SR aspect. What would it take for her to get a stab at it?

I too feel the same way about Barnes. Her "REACT TIME" is so much quicker than McGraw's. I know I cannot expect anything different from a former goalie on her High School team. Yes she has 1 more yr experience on the volleyball court than McGraw, but I also feel she is just athletically 1 step ahead of her too. However, McGraw being the top Libero in her class and from Minnesota, I am glad she is a Gopher.
Back to my "what if" quote earlier. What if Barnes was our starting Libero this past season? I still feel she had a more stable game going on. Don't get me wrong, these two are a huge addition to our back court and I am sure there are better days to come from both.
After watching the Championship match last night and other games throughout the NCAA tournament, our MB's both need to grow in their positions as a "blocker". Hence the term....Middle Blocker. Also be able to read the opponent's players and setter MUCH BETTER, as someone has already stated. This entire team needs to work on "proper blocking technique". I am in agreement "*" that this is more than likely the major concern for this Gopher team moving forward.

Taylor Morgan is quick as hell, but not necessarily laterally. I wonder if that's tough on her knees, whether mentally or physically changing directions so abruptly. Regan is just slow. That's it. But she'll improved. It sounds like Rubright might be type of player who would fit that bill in the coming years.
I too wonder sometimes about Barnes vs McGraw at libero. Having watched video of CC from club she looked like the perfect prototype for a scrappy B1G libero, but I agree she's didn't have a great end to her season. There appears to be some miscommunication at times between her and Rollins, in that I've regularly seen Rollins step in front of CC for the second ball, despite CC calling it. That should get worked out with time, but it makes me question the back row's chemistry. Blocking likely has A LOT to do with being in the right position. The back row is at the mercy of the block being closed, and that's part of why Kenzie Maloney and Morgan Hentz look so amazing...the ball can either hit the block or go straight at the libero.
Slightly off topic, but has anyone else noticed that Barnes kind of has a funky platform when she receives? It's like she sort of hooks her wrists or bends her elbows which makes her contact point really close to her wrists instead of on her forearms. She'll tend to pass the ball too "upward" rather than forward on top of the setter when it's a bit exaggerated or a tough ball. McGraw better in that regard.

But I have no idea what the ticket price is, and when I try and add it, I get the same "501 Server Error" that we got for post-season tickets. At least the system is consistent.

I have my doubts, but calling the ticket office and getting on a waiting list is probably the route to take. I remember hearing that they had a waiting list a couple years back... don't know whether they clear it each season, or if it's like Packer tickets, where you get your newborn on the waiting list he he might get tickets when he turns 20. At some point, you'd think they'd open up... Its not like you can pass them down in your will (hmmm, or maybe you can. Gotta check with my estate lawyer.)

I think they have reached a point where the seats do not justify the price. I could see $450 for a premium seat. I'm not sure I can pony up for a seat with as bad of a view as my bench seat. If I *knew* I could change my seat to a better location, maybe. But they didn't even offer last year.

$450 does seem excessive when you can spend a fraction of that on BTN Plus and watch them at home. Hell, for $120 you can get a conference-wide pass for the entire year and watch as many matches as you can tolerate. Plus other sports if that's your thing.
