Redondo crumbled under pressure in that match. We will see tomorrow how good they truly are when the Loyola Cubs come to town. I predict this one going 4 or 5 either way but at the moment I would give a slight advantage to Loyola

It’s gonna be a good game if Redondo remains consistent and mentally stable. Hopefully I can catch the game...

Redondo matches up just fine in terms of firepower with Rodriguez, Bustamante, Miranda, etc. But Loyola has the edge with setting and Redondo has a new coach. To your point, Redondo must stay in system to win, whereas Loyola can probably freestyle more with setter/oppo combo of Campbell and Wedbush flying around making plays like they do on SCVC 18s. Should be a fun one - and heads up to anyone going, game time is now 7pm at Redondo Union High (changed from 6pm)

He was definitely fun to watch. Ben Coordt the year before was more amazing on TR 14s. Haven't seen Jordan play this year yet. I think the Libero you mention is Kellen, he was starting libero on last years 14 open winner as a 13 YO I believe. He might be 13 now but assume he is a 14 for this season. Remarkable he is starting on a top 16s team. I need to check that team out. And TRs 15/16 is not the 16-2, rather the 16-3. The 16 black is the 16-2 and very solid for a B team. Related question for those who know: if a player uses their exception year and is an 8th grade 15 year old, the as a HS freshman plays 16s, etc... what happens senior year when they are a 19? Do they play HS ball but sit out club? Nope, as long as you're in hs you can play club. Tim baldwin played 18s as a 19 year old if I remember correctly Baldwin's instagram said he just turned 19 in November. I think he just played with Spectrum/Rise because of Adam Park and the fact that they worked really closely with UCLA.

Any details on the injury? Hope it's minor...

CDM lost everybody Harbor doesn't have a second middle or second Outside You would think CdM would have to have a couple of rebuilding years after losing 4 guys who started on the 949 team that won gold at BJNC in every age group from 15-18 and additionally losing their two middles: one has won the freshman of the week award winner at UCSB this year and the other middle who has got a lot of playing time at NYU this year. They probably won't be as good as they have been the past two years. But CdM has an opposite who started for the Balboa 18s last year when they made it to the finals at BJNC and one of their OH from last year and another who I see on here signed at Long Beach and a third who is on Balboa 17s, a very promising middle on Balboa 17s and very good libero on Balboa 17s. And 3 top setters of the junior class in southern california. It is a long jam of setters. I wonder if one or two convert to another position if needed to fill in a spot.

Just got back from Redondo v Loyola - Redondo won it in 3 in impressive fashion despite missing their #1 middle. They were pretty much in control the whole match. Played better than Loyola in virtually every aspect of the game.

Loyola tried second and third set to get back and get the win, but Turner, Wedbush, and Campbell just weren’t enough. Redondo dominated defense, pins, blocking, and middles. Loyola’s gonna need a lot of improvement if they’re gonna be competing for a CIF title.

...never seen a Loyola team play defense so poorly, both at the net and in the back court.

...never seen a Loyola team play defense so poorly, both at the net and in the back court. A bit embarrassing, if I do say so myself. I originally didn't believe Redondo had the stability nor maturity to maintain their system and emerge with a victory. As I watched the game, I noticed the passion Redondo had, which was something I hadn't really seen come from that school. Rodriguez (LBSU) and Bustamente (Louis) were pretty consistent at the pins. A few standouts were Benson, who I believe is uncommitted atm and Iamalava, committed to LBSU. Outstanding connection from the two, although Loyola's middles were a bit lacking in blocking. Either way, the ball came down every time Benson set him. Redondo is now becoming a must see for me. Might be the coaching, but Redondo is really coming together as a team. I really want to see Mira Costa, though. Any upcoming games, guys?

Redondo consistently stayed in system which allowed them to spread the ball around a balanced attack between the OHs, MBs, and that terrific lefty OPPO. They have weapons at every spot. Loyola has some great players, but just isn't a complete team right now, with virtually no middle presence (hitting or blocking).
Halfway through the second set you could just tell Redondo knew they were better, and Loyola knew it too...
