Please refrain from injecting my Buckeye thread with politics, at least until after the season ending Nebraska game this weekend. Thanks.

Didn't OSU just extend Geoff at the end of last season?

Didn't OSU just extend Geoff at the end of last season? Either last year or the year before...but yes, Geoff received an extension. Administration understands the level of recruiting happening and Geoff - unless there are some compliance issues that haven’t surfaced - is safe for another season. Maybe he is asked to evaluate his coaching staff? I just don’t see them cutting ties with him right now.

I'd bet more recruits have avoided tOSU because of Geoff Carlston than have chosen it because of him. The place recruits itself and his non-winning coaching style's a liability right now.

All Dan Fisher does is win. Yes... his side line temperament is not the greatest but tell me one great coach who was a sweetheart to the refs. He demands alot from his players but gives them the respect they deserve. He recruits both side of the country as well as internationally. His personality if total different from his top assistant which works well with the players. All Carlston did was win prior to entering the Big Ten.

And he never had a top 2 team

Will the Covelli Center look anything like the artist renditions?

Well season over. Looked competitive at times with the better teams in the B1G, but needed to have a better non-conference or beat NW at home late in the season. More top talent coming in next year. I think Geoff is safe, but needs to make the tournament next year.

I think Geoff is safe, but needs to make the tournament next year. Making the tournament shouldn't be a reason to hold on to Geoff for another agonizing season. Geoff's teams have consistently underperformed during his tenure at tOSU, including the string of seasons when they made it to the tournament. The arrival next year of more top talent will certainly increase the chances of a tournament appearance, but it will also prolong the agony by masking what should already be painfully obvious: Geoff Carlston is a liability to the program.
