We need a 10-10 record in conference to be tourney eligible... the race to 10 is on! So who do they knock off, considering they have one of the tougher schedules? Aside: C. Buzz is setting all kinds of personal records, and conference play hasn't even started! Good for her!

Nothing is going to be easy, not even Rutgers... but here's where we can start: x1 Maryland x1 Rutgers x2 Ohio State x1 Northwestern x1 Michigan State x2 Michigan x2 Illinois x2 Indiana Those are probably the most vulnerable middle of the pack teams. Are there 10/12 wins there? I don't think so but it's possible. We have Northwestern/Illinois road trip first and that can easily go 0-2 and put is in the hole right away. After we've got this to look forward to: x1 Purdue x1 Wisconsin x2 Minnesota x2 Penn State x2 Nebraska We shocked Wisconsin once last season and we can shock someone again, but I think we'll have to do it more than once maybe even up to 3x Yikes.

I think Purdue seems like a shocker team as well, along with Indiana. Maryland has been struggling (I think?). I thought they'd be a bigger factor, but some weird kinks are goin' on. Rutgers has nothing to lose, and that could arguably be its greatest weapon other than Balyko. tOSU is a wildcard. Different look. Young and talented. Northwestern doesn't seem to get much coverage, but they have a standout freshman in Themi Thomas-Ailara (who wants to major in BNG, which I LOVE (I'm not a BNG, just admiring the STEM) along with the Chang factor (#buffdegrees). MSU seems to be floudering, but they return a lot. Michigan has also been struggling, but I haven't seen any of their matches, so no eye test on my end. Illinois seems to be a headscratcher for most, given the pieces they have. Indiana has fought, going the distance and winning against Kentucky. They seem to be a favorite darkhorse. Purdue has lots of youth but also great pieces. Comes down to how they come together. Wisconsin is stumbling, but they have the talent. Could a repeat upset of last year happen again? It's up to how hard the Hawks fight and if Wisconsin figures their stuff out. Minny is a headscratcher team in that they have a LOT of different looks. Improvements are happening, but will it be enough, and can the play stay consistent? PSU has some high-flying middles and White. Can those pieces do it all? Nebraska is... Nebraska. AT Nebraska is tough for anyone. My take, which means nothing, is: Cynical: take 6 wins from the orange list, 0 from the red list (including at least one 5 set loss). 6 wins. Optimistic: take 10 wins from the orange list, 2 from the red list. 12 wins. The Hawks could catch a higher ranked team sleeping, which can only help. Their "lighter" opponents are equally light in the schedule. They play AT Wisconsin in November, which can be tough not only due to venue, but also (I'm guessing) the Badgers will have figured some (a lot?) of stuff out. They also play AT Purdue, which they only have one shot at. They went 5 with the Boilermakers last year, a squad that included USNT member Atkinson. There are soooo many ways this can go. I'll stop here. This is becoming less and less productive. Edit: Hawk Attack I didn't want to get a "Participated" tag in the Fantasy thread, but don't you have Polina Shemanova? If so, she got a few aces today against Harvard.

It's tough to lay out the road ahead and honestly see it all coming together. It's like driving on I-80 during a heavy fog... just have to wait until we see the taillights ahead of us!
And I do have Shemanova, she's arguably my MVP on my fantasy team!

This will be a B1G week for the Hawks, without M Buzz in the lineup, the team has struggled to pull off the close ones. They most likely would have been 8-3 or 9-2, but now sit at 6-5. Hughes, & Schmidt played well at times, but I think getting Hansen some confidence will be key for us. I’m pulling for a solid week of practice and a win in Chicago Friday night!

WOW! AMAZING!!! So excited for the continuation of the Coach Brown-era! This makes me really happy! I was worried that she was going to need a winning record at the end of the season in order to get the interim tag removed without a search. I've really liked her sideline presence and the demeanor showed in the practice videos. I'm not horribly familiar with all the coaches in volleyball, but how many minority women are coaches? I don't believe there are any other women coaches in the Big 10, are there? Could Brown be able to pull in big recruits to Iowa much as Vivian Stringer did in Women's Basketball years ago?

Only other one I can think of is Cathy George of MSU. Very happy for Coach Brown and excited for future.
