I’m amazed the debates this year are more friendly and less hostile.

well, that ended up a bit of a dud last night, after that first set
Parapunov is just that much better this year. It's a little like Ensing raised his game a notch between '17 & '18, and that made a huge difference for LB.
Hawaii already has one more 'quality' road win than all of last year that really hurt their resume last year.
Irvine returned everyone, but just seems like they haven't gotten any better. Some of that is setting, Irvine's got players but between some inconsistent setting, too many soft serves, - they just don't put the pressure on opposing teams that they need to.
will be really interesting to see how and what Kniffen can do differently to match up better with Hawaii tonight. Hawaii is too physical a team to let them go on those 4 to 5 point runs, there's no way to recover in a set after that.

Things that scare me about LB 1. Their service game 2. That Wiley and cunning TJ Defalco 3. That Wiley and cunning Josh Tuaniga 4. Tall Swede dat looks like Dolph Lundgren 5. All the other guys, including the bench 6. The bald coach dat looks like Dr Evil

Big West rankings. only one weekend, but right now it's looking like there's two professional VB teams playing amidst the rest of the NCAA
#1 Hawaii - demolishes Irvine. Is Hawaii really that good, or is Irvine just too inconsistent? until proven otherwise, Hawaii is that good. #2 Long Beach - LB sees Hawaii's destruction of Irvine, and raises them with a 0.500 hitting over Northridge. the Block? LB was rated last in the Big West before conference play. well, 3.5 bps vs. Northridge - problem solved! any questions? Tuaniga has yet to make a hitting error after 2 months, that's not a misprint. ZERO
#3 SB. SB rises to #3. get's their chance at LB on the 14th #4 Irvine. looked pretty shaky. Get a chance at redemption and fight for the at-large with 2 matches vs. BYU. must win matches if they want to get to the NCAAs, don't rule out a Kniffen team until a stake is put in them
#5 Northridge. can't blame any team for getting swept by LB #6. UCSD

Hawai’i bench has some solid players too that can contribute right off the bat when needed. 6. Wade, who used to be bald but is now sporting a full grown hair.

Charlie looks like Milan's brother with his new set of hair and it is sometimes hard to tell them apart during the game

What are you early predictions when it comes to seeding for the Big West tournament?

Big West rankings. a lot of non-conference play. things heat up more next week as Long Beach has the first big Big West 'home and home' with SB. We know LB is for real. We know SB is for real. but really, is SB as real as LB?!, that's the question. wow, reality check needed!
Hawaii goes to BYU, the question is, will the altitude cause this Hawaii serve to need some re-calibration? Fortunately for Hawaii, by the time they play Sat night, the serve should be re-calibrated.....what is the equation? 1 or 2 inches for every 1000 feet?? altitude negates spin, or so says the spin doctors...
I was saying it was like there were two teams that were pro this year, and everybody else. It's ridiculous, maybe more like two National Teams...and everybody else. I mean UCLA and Pepperdine and Irvine and Stanford are good teams by MVB college standards, and they are getting just smoked.
#1 Hawaii - another week, another set of sweeps. what more can we say, can we just move over to April and get these LB-Hawaii matches underway?! just some thilthy VB out there with these guys.
#2 Long Beach - LB demolished Stanford. I mean they made them look like a HS junior varsity volleyball team. This is getting ridiculous. Santa Barbara looks like a fun match-up. It's like here comes the latest gunslinger into town to knock off the Sheriff. Will SB be able to get the gun out of the holster? reminds me of the line from Unforgiven by Eastwood as he leaves the town at the end of the movie ..... (paraphrasing here) " and if you people don't behave, I'm gonna come back and hunt you, and shoot you, and burn down your house, and burn your friends house down...." ... well, you get the idea. It's like hyperbole is not hyperbole with these two teams. right now LB & Hawaii are Clint Eastwood, and then the antagonists....pick whatever movie you like, Clint always wins.....
#3 SB. SB was treading water last week, housekeeping chore matches. Next week it's SHOWTIME. They are rested, they are ready, and they ain't backing down! #4 Irvine. Finally righted the ship. That was a huge win on Saturday. Although it may not seem so or feel like it, Irvine is in nice shape for an at-large, especially if they can knock off Pepperdine, they have a nice array of non-conf wins....and only top 10 losses. #5 Northridge. thanks for winning last week!! #6. UCSD. Got to face Stanford, after Stanford was embarrassed by LB. sorry for that guys.

I agree with everything except Hawaii being #1. The road still runs through LBSU and it will be that way at least until both teams meet up.

I think BeachbytheBay is just downplaying LB being the #1 and want to perceive them as the underdogs in the series. It’s a better feeling to beat the ranked #1 than ranked #2. That being said, LB still holds the top spot until they are challenged. The LB-UH series can go either way. Both of these teams don’t need to prove their ranks and I honestly will be happy whatever the outcome will be. I do want to see high level volleyball, 5 set matches with just two point leads and a series split 😉.
