I just watched the 5th game this morning on YouTube. That was when they did rally score in the 5th game only. Lots of match points for both teams. Scores were: 15-12, 21-19, 13-15, 14-16, 24-22. Forgot that the 5th game was rally scoring. I was going crazy throughout the whole match, when sets were called games. I still call them games, myself. I need to go back and watch whatever game Sue Lemeire (R2) called an overlap AFTER a point was scored. Took a point away from BYU. Sue also reffed at the Penn State site. Elaine Michaelis was very gracious. But the BYU players were NOT happy to see her. Sue almost turned down the assignment when she saw BYU was playing. Conversely, she reffed the previous weekend at the 1st round in Hawaii (weekend after the WAC Championship). I was there also, and she was treated like a goddess. Of course the whole island had watched the match on TV. She was recognized everywhere we went.

Frankly, I do Not focus upon the teams which did not win the NC Final; my team has won Eight of them. Just for a slight break in this (interminably) loonnngggg offseason, I offered the 2006 +'07 SU teams. There have been other Stanford squads which - if the competition (especially-particularly in the latter stages of the tourney) had been a bit less competitive - might've won, instead. It's All Good!

2001 long beach
Weaver, Haneef, hochevar
Undefeated, until losing to Stanford in finals
Had beat Stanford earlier
Hochevar took a swing on 2 to win set 1, after she missed that, LB just seemed to never recover

2001 long beach Weaver, handed, hochevar Undefeated, until losing to Stanford in finals Had best Stanford earlier Hochevar took a swing on 2 to win set 1, after she missed that, LB just seemed to never recover LB was ahead 29-27 in the 1st set ('game', back then). After SU won 31-29, Stanford was ahead 29-23 in the 2nd, and w/Nishimoto serving, the 49'ers scored five straight points, 'til she served long on the 28-29 point. I have watched that match a # of times; Cheryl Weaver was neutralized, pretty much. Hochevar (especially her serving) and Tayyiba Haneef carried the team that day. This was Logan Tom's BEST (by Far) NC match (her 1999 one was subpar; '02 team was missing some pieces). Quite the upset!

Stanford ended up sweeping Nebraska 31-29, 30-28, 30-21. Logan was a beast that Final Four.

BYU 1998. Epic 5 game, 3.5 hour battle in the WAC Championship against Hawaii. Hawaii wins 24-22 in the 5th. As a result, Hawaii goes to Florida, BYU goes to Penn State in the tournament. I reffed at the Penn State sight, until they found out I was a BYU alum (it was right on my information sheet!). So they put me in charge of keeping rally score to see how it compared to side out scoring. BYU was REALLY good. Penn State was even better. BUT, Long Beach was amazing, and won the whole thing. Don't feel bad, Hawaii went all the way to the Regional Final against Florida, were up two sets to none, just one set away from the final four, only to see Florida come back to win the next three.

I was at that regional...played Hawaii the night before and lost in four. But Arkansas was happy to be there after being upset the year before in the second round to Notre Dame...first and only Sweet 16 appearance for the Razorbacks!

That was a good Arkansas teamed led by Yarleen Santiago and Jessica Field.

Yes, and Jessica Fields was also inducted in some SEC HOF (should know the specific name, but escapes me), Really Good Group! Both were in Arkansas’ second ever recruiting class and both AA.

Stanford 06-08 with Barboza, Akinradewo, Klineman and Lichtman and Stanford 2012-2015 with Howard, Burgess, Bugg and Ajanaku Stanford 2015??? Hahaha no. Actually no to all of the teams in 2012-2014. 2014 was the best team in that span and yet they choked in the final four.

Howard and Burgess were solid 6-rotation players but Stanford didn’t have a terminator when Inky was off the court. 2014 was a great year but Stanford was just badly outplayed by PSU
