For anyone who is super familiar with LMU's roster, I see that the 6'2" Bo Culo is playing libero and the 5'9" Boehle is playing OH tonight again. Both have played libero, and Culo came into the program as an OH, so I find that interesting. Unfortunate for LMU to lose Booth after a promising start to her freshman season. Completely unrelated -- I can't get over the LMU uniforms. Ugh. They literally like Saint Mary's from a distance!

But the actual uniforms and color are growing on me...the burgundy/navy wasn't great. It was just 'expected'. What other team has red, light blue and navy for colors? It's pretty unique. The lion logo though....I keep thinking cartoon Lion King...

LMU is up 13-10 with only one hitting error so far. Huh.
Tess Reid's final match. LMU is running a 6-2 at the moment.
LMU up 17-13. Lots of kills coming from off-speed shots.
San Diego closes to 17-19

LMU is up 23-19 in the first set, hitting .229 to USD's .176. San Diego is led by Turner's 5 kills. Jacobsen has none so far. This is a strange, and cold start for San Diego

LMU takes set one 25-22 over San Diego. (So much for my prediction of a USD sweep, haha.) San Diego ball control was poor and they ended up with some trap sets, and other unforced hitting errors. LMU was less aggressive, but had smarter shot selection and better ball control.

USD apparently realizing they don't want to have to share the WCC title. Up 11-6 in the second...11-7

USD had a 21-9 lead in the second, before LMU made a little run. USD took it 25-15 to tie the match at 1-1 And now the three other matches starting, including BYU on ESPNU...but showing late due to a football game still on for another 10 minutes or so. Will be on ESPNews until then. www.espn.com/watch/?type=live&channel=espnews

The official job posting went up for the Univ of Portland head coach... They should take shot at a assistant coach in either the WCC or Pac-12. Portland is a Nice school with good facilities.

First off, I am so impressed with how well Ballard-Nixon has been playing recently for BYU. It's been a long time coming to see her playing near or at her potential as a highly ranked recruit who has come back from knee surgery.
BUY is crushing Pepperdine set one 25-15.
Santa Clara dominated Pacific 25-16.
USF is also dominating SMC (I predicted SMC in 4)...first set 22-15 USF right now...and they take set one 25-18.
San Diego is going full throttle since set one. Currently up 24-13 in the third set, and will go up 2-1 on LMU. (Third set 25-18 after LMU had a late 5-0 run)

St. Mary's and USF tied at 14 in the second with USF up 1-0

Santa Clara 26-24 in the second set to go up 2-0 on Pacific.
LMU and San Diego were knotted at 18, but San Diego now up 20-18 and sniffing at the solo title... San Diego takes the fourth set 25-20 for the 3-1 win and the solo WCC title. Congrats to the Toreros.
Saint Mary's has recovered to take a 22-18 lead on USF...and they take the second 25-21 to tie it at 1-1.
BYU is up 23-18 on Pepperdine in the second

Sunderland and Kiraly have repeated several times the narrative that Taya Mahi was Pepperdine's 'starting setter' until she went out with a concussion and Zelaya took over the starting role. The narrative must have come from their pre-match discussions with Coach Wong. No mention of the 'setter carrousel' that existed prior to Mahi's concussion. And tonight, in the latter part of set 1, Pepperdine switched setters again from Zelaya to Mahi.
Btw, BYU took the second set 25-19.
