Congrats to George Mason on the season sweep of PSU. Both 3-0. wow.
Very solid performance from Hosacks team. They were ready.
Our guys we out of sorts and out of position blocking and digging much of the night.
Communication looked nonexistent on passing. Liberos should the most dynamic and vocal players. Lack of digging angles and lack of experience was evident.
The poor hand postioning on blocking and lack of secondary motion was puzzling.
The stats bear all this out (both nights) but the uncomfortable look and body language was easy to see last night against an opponent and coaching staff that clearly sensed this and pounced.
Pav did all he could do to build up confidence but .... the experiment doesnt look promising.
lets see where the team goes next week.
This EIVA is still up for grabs.
Wildman should not be off the court..... ever.
Switch the setters if need be. Mende cant terminate against hot and fast moving teams and is such a defensive liability in the backrow.

Does Sacred Heart even deserve to stay in the EIVA? Losses to Stevens Tech and now Springfield? Without Springfield’s OH1 playing too

Does Sacred Heart even deserve to stay in the EIVA? Losses to Stevens Tech and now Springfield? Where else are they going to go? Give them some time and let their head coach do some recruiting. He's an old timer who's been around and has had some great success. He can build them up.

Does Sacred Heart even deserve to stay in the EIVA? Losses to Stevens Tech and now Springfield? Unsure exhibition matches should be a factor of EIVA membership. However, this Sacred Heart is a poor team as currently constructed. Current coach inherited a heaping pile

The complaint about them being in the EIVA is kind of nonsense garbage. They did take some sets away from the big boys this year. They also had plenty of games where they were in the point range of 20 or higher in sets against the big teams in the EIVA. "Someone has to lose" Someone has to be at the bottom?
Just because they didn't win doesn't make them a non opponent. They have limited recruiting power and if they are taking sets and in the 20's vs the big guys who get pretty much what they want, Id say they are on the right track.
Side Note: Your crying they lost to springfield "one of the best programs in the country ever year at the D3 level" Let me repeat that. EVERY YEAR.....

Current coach inherited a heaping pile “Heaping pile”, nice burn on some college kids man The pile has nothing to do with the young men on that team. The history of that program which many already know has been underfunded for many years. The players are good young men.

The players are good young men. Agreed. I don't think he meant the kids were the heaping pile, but rather the program as a whole, and the support from the athletic department. SHU has never been in the hunt, really, and the amount of scholarship money they give out (much much less than the other big players in the conference/country), the salary to attract a high level coach, and cost of living in the area all contribute to the program never really taking off. It's unfortunate that the athletic director doesn't put the correct amount of resources into that program. With just having the right amount of scholarships, they could attract a decent amount of good players. And Springfield, although DIII, does give a good amount of academic money to their players. However, with the current administration, coaching staff, and level of funding, they (SHU)unfortunately will be towards the bottom half of the EIVA just about every year.

On a far more important point. This will be an interesting weekend as to seeding.
PSU and St. Francis are currently in the #2 /#3 spots and can remain there by going 1 and 1 on the weekend. NJIT will not be an easy W for either team.
My prediction is
Mason goes 2-0 Harvard goes 0-2
Princeton goes 2-0 St. Francis goes 1-1 PSU goes 0-2 NJIT goes 1-1
I hope Im wrong.
Apr. 12 Penn State NJIT 6:00 PM
Saint Francis (Pa.) Princeton 7:00 PM George Mason Harvard 7:00 PM
Apr. 13
George Mason Harvard 4:00 PM Penn State Princeton 7:00 PM Saint Francis (Pa.) NJIT

My goodness. Clearly Princeton isnt NJIT. Passing and defense exposed again just like Mason. Double sub back row Setter Braswell led PSU with 4 digs. Was this a throw away match for PSU? Clearly Princeton didnt take that approach. Not even close . Onto the EiVA Tourney. Princeton hosts

Apparently Donorovich was rested (the match) as was Henrik and Mclaren after a disappointing passing effort and 1st set. Its pretty darn clear after the Mason and now Princeton (2 teams PSU HAS to beat now) matches the passing, defense and Libero position is in serious trouble. Im at a loss for what the staff is seeing. Better have all options available.
