Betsi/EmDay have beaten ATeam, 2S, and KWJ/Sweat on the FIVB this year. They probably think they’re already one of the top two US teams. A lot of teams have beaten the Ateam. I am not arguing that Betsi is not better, just that it was only relatively recently, if at all, that it became this clear. I agree, but Betsi’s recent improvement may have deluded her into thinking she can win with Emily against any other US team. Her ceiling is probably higher with a better blocker, such as KWJ. Was just responding to the speculation that Betsi may have already turned Kerri down.

I complimented him on Flint's playing and he said she had been seriously hitting the weight room, which has significantly improved her play.

They would’ve been the top team in CQ too. Unless they have other thoughts about going to Xiamen. I didnt realize they were in the CQ. That may be why. Losing there would be a terrible result and maybe they want to wait and see if they can get into other events just on points. Sounds like Tri and Trevor are playing in the Mexico NORCECA next weekend so maybe they decided flying to China right after would be cutting it too close, especially if they would have been in the qualifiers.

Can someone clarify — has Tri/Trevor actually qualified for World Champs yet? If they already did, I don’t see the point in playing in Mexico next weekend.

Another reason to hate the Olympics is thinking of all the delicious partner switches we would have if this were the year after instead of the year before.

So, Brazil has a CQ. If Alison/Álvaro Filho win, it should put them 4th in the Q, knocking both Americans back in seeding. Which should give Hyden/Ryan vs. Varenhorst/van de Velde in the play in match. that'll be a good measure.
Slick and Allen should face a young AUT team that had some good wins in 2018, but haven't played a 2019 event yet.
Not an easy road for either.

Tomorrow we find out who makes it through for Brazil CQ. Should be Alison/Alvaro though.
Slick/Allen are having a bit of delays to get to Xiamen as evident in Slick’s IG.

Someone dropped from the MD, USA Q teams now seed 5&6. Better draws for both US teams, these types of teams should be sure things but we'll see.

The MD stayed the same. Samoday/Myskiv (RUS) were scheduled to play, however now Myskiv/Kramarenko are registered.
What's interesting here is that for the 4* in Jinjiang in May all kind of Russian teams have entered. Liamin/Myskiv, Liamin/Velichko, Myskiv/Samoday, and Samoday/Velichko have all been registered. If I had to guess I'd say that Liamin/Myskiv and Samoday/Velichko will play. Why else would the Russian Federation name those alternate pairings? No sight of neither Semenov nor Leshukov in any of the upcoming tournaments though (as 1 user here hinted). It will be interesting what Russian team will be in the fight for the 2nd ticket for the Olympics.

Is there anywhere to watch these matches live? Or are we depending on another Youtube savior to record and upload all the vids

Agreed. 1st Round looks good for USA.
