USA finally calls a timeout. Summer Ross with 2 serving errors and I lost count of her hitting errors. Sara got called for a double contact as well hitting out of bounds.

Not only digging everything but getting kills too.

21-18, 21-13
Aussies take the bronze.
The Aussies lead was just growing in Set 2. 12-6, 14-7, 18-9.
Lesson learnt: Summer cannot get to the net in time to block when she is serving. On 2 is really effective for the Aussies when Summer’s serving and running to block.

Australia played 3 American teams in this event and defeated all 3.
KWJ/BS and ATeam went to 3 sets and 2S was a decisive victory.

Summer was either really tired or injured. Most of her jumps were half jumps and had no side-to-side movement. Not even close to her usual effort.

I do think AUS usually passes better but this Czech team is very good. Hermannova blocks really well for being a bit undersized and Slukova can terminate as well as just about any defender. Looking forward to this final, a first time matchup. This is the first match I saw of Czech. Their defender was bombing balls; she looked great. Is their blocker even more effective at siding out? The defender received most of the serves, but with how effective she was, is the blocker even better that AUS avoided her? I remember watching them destroy 2S in Vienna last year, 12 and 12. They’re both really good. They’ve been a top 10-ish team for years and seem to have really stepped up their game recently.

Since the demise of Kira/LL, they probably have as good a claim as anyone to be the top team on the women's side. The winner of this final has a very good claim to that position. Czechs won 2 last year, tied with a few other teams for first and Ana/Rebecca have won most recently. I love the way Ana walks around looking like one more step may be too much effort for her. Probably the sand here but both of those ladies look like they are moving and jumping better than at the end of last year

Summer played valiantly considering her back was causing issues before she stepped on the plane for Xiamen.
By the last match you could tell she was locking up. She is too good of an athlete to turn and fall in the sand while tracking down a play.
Plenty of kinks to work out throughout the long journey for all the USAV teams.
Good luck to everyone.
Wouldn’t it be great to see S&S and C&S represent the now and future of American BVB in Tokyo ?
That would spark more interest in the sport after the Olympics with the youth movement creating the new faces of BVB.

She is too good of an athlete to turn and fall in the sand while tracking down a play. I did notice the KT tape on her back and wondered if that was the issue. Surprised she didn’t ask for a medical time out. Hopefully she gets sufficient treatment and/or rest before stepping back on the sand. If that means dropping out of Huntington, so be it. No need to risk further injury here.

Fantastic gold medal match won by Brazil, 25-23, 26-24.
AP with some key blocks to spark a comeback from down 19-15 in the first. Rebecca had the transition kills to win the second. The Czechs played well but missed way too many serves. These two teams seem to be clearly the best in the world right now. And between The Hague and Xiamen, AP and Rebecca have won 13 straight FIVB matches!
