2C also directly into the Round of 16. The close matches Budinger was losing last year he's winning this year. Big step up for him so far this year.

Tough draw for 2T. If they win the Round of 24 match, they get Brouwer/Meeuwsen.

Completely different player this year. 30% physical, 70% mental. Has the bounce we expected when he came out but more important has assertive aggressive attacks and blocking is night and day better.

Agreed, Stevie and Cova - he looked very impressive in Huntington, and seems to have really cut down on his mistakes and become much better at setting in transition and in sensing when to drop back off the net. Casey seems a bit recharged as well!

Not sure how thats possible but it seems to have taken him a long time to get his sand legs or perhaps adapt his conditioning to the beach. In either case, if he can maintain this, he could be the no. 2 US blocker by the end of the year. (Jake has to fall off at some point right, but incredible technique never goes away) Of course his blocking was completely ineffectual vs Jake/Taylor so there is still an element of inconsistency but its nice to have another compelling storyline in the US game

But I didn't watch his other matches from Huntington so I can't really tell whether he has improved his blocking or not but overall he did look better/more physical out there compared to last year.

Priddy/Brunner also uno dos. I think you meant Doherty and Hyden. Reid and Theo don’t play until later this afternoon.

Tri/Trevor up 11-7, getting good value from the service line, especially Tri. Brazil has gotten 4 blocks already (two covered) which is worrying given how Mol owned T2

Game 1 to T2 and up 8-5 in Gme 2. Brazils blocker just fell down dropping and used his toe to poke up a dig. Then his partner two balled out of bounds

Nice win for the boys. Controlled the match, never really in trouble. Played consistent and made Brazil beat themselves. Really excellent serving game too
