I couldn't find a thread for this. I thought I would take a glance at each team's season last year and how their team looks right now for 2019. I excluded the Longhorns since there is so much information elsewhere for them. I will go alphabetically - starting with Baylor.
Baylor (20-9, 11-5) Pablo #20
Lost in 2nd Round to Oregon
Nonconference – wins over Marquette and Wisconsin and Pablo T50 wins over Texas State and Rice. Lost to UCLA in 5 sets despite scoring 14 more points in the match and followed this up with a 4 set loss to San Diego. Lost a 5 set home match to UT Rio Grande Valley.
Conference – started out just 2-3 with a surprising 4 set loss to Texas Tech at home. Baylor won 7 of their last 8 in conference with the only loss coming against Texas at home.
Players lost: (1 starter) Aniah Philo and Ashley Fritcher (roster on website hasn’t been updated)
Additions: Kara McGhee, Kynnedi Johnson, Kennedy Feuerborn, Campbell Bowden
Black Ink: 51.0
Baylor returns 2nd team AA Shelly Fanning in the middle and HM Yossiana Pressley. Gia Milana will probably slot in as the other OH. Kara McGhee is a top 10 recruit as a MB where Baylor had a bit of revolving door last year. Hannah Lockin is the incumbent setter who missed part of last season with Hannah Fluegel getting over 400 assists last year. Incoming freshman setter Feureborn who is 6-3 and a PrepVolleyball HM could challenge for playing time.
Outlook: Baylor is a very talented team and should be at least top 20 again this year. Last year was a bit disappointing with some inconsistent play. They did narrowly lose to Oregon (13-15 in the 5th set) to end the season. If they can get consistent play out of setter and improved production from Milana – this team could compete with Texas this year and should be a seed for the tournament.

Iowa State (21-13, 9-7) Pablo #31
Missed the NCAA Tournament, won the NIVC
Nonconference – Beat Northern Iowa, but losses against Nebraska, Creighton, Utah, Syracuse, Iowa, and Oregon State. The lack of wins in the nonconference mostly ruined their chances of making the tournament per RPI and put them in a bind right from the start of the conference season.
Conference – Iowa State started 1-4. Just never had the consistency all season long.
Players lost: (3 starters) Jess Schaben, Grace Lazard, Hali Hillegas, Hannah Bailey
Additions: Jaiden Centeno, Annie Hatch, Kenzie Mantz
Black Ink: 32.5
Schaben and Lazard where Iowa State’s two best players and Hillegas was the starting libero who is transferring out. This team still has solid talent on the team. Eleanor Holthaus was very good as a freshman last year (2.3 k/s, .264). Josie Herbst (OH) returns for her senior season. Brooke Anderson and Hatch are both T50 recruits that should fill the other OH position. Replacing Lazard may be the biggest issue – Candelaria Herrera started last year and will most likely be one of the MB. Avery Rhodes (JR) and Meegan Hart (SO) are senior aces competing for a starting job.
Outlook: This is a transition year with the losses of Schaben and Lazard. Herbst is the only senior on the roster. Piper Mauck returns as the starting setter for her junior season – and as a top 25 recruit needs to lead this team. There is enough talent for this team to make the tournament, but this is a deep conference.

Kansas (15-12, 8-8) Pablo #57
Nonconference: Solid RPI scheduling allowed Kansas to be in the mix for making the tournament as they ended up being one of the last two teams eliminated from an at-large berth. Dayton was the top win – and the only win over a team in the Pablo top 75. Losses to Kentucky and LMU – along with ‘bad’ losses to Arkansas and Auburn.
Conference: Kansas jumped out to a 6-0 start including home wins against Texas and Baylor to position them for an NCAA berth. However the wheels fell off losing 8 of their last 10 matches and their last 5.
Players lost: (2 starters) Gabby Simpson, Jada Burse, Mmachi Nwoke, Patricia Montero, Annika Carlson
Additions: Morgan Christon, Gracie Van Driel, Rachel Hickman, Riley Foltz
Black Ink: 28.0
The injury to Montero, who was likely to be the team’s best player, derailed the team last year and her medical retirement puts the 2019 team in a bind. Gabby Simpson was the only senior on the team in 2018 – but this team is losing 4 other players that were the opening match starters last year. Starters Ashley Smith (OH), Zoe Hill (MB), Rachel Langs (MB), Camyrn Ennis (S), and Allie Nelson (L) return. A top 5/10 class is coming with T15 Christon, T50 Van Driel, senior ace Hickman and redshirt senior ace Kailea Carrier. Replacing Burse and/or coming up with a 6 position OH is the team’s biggest need. The roster is most likely not set – as they have to get a 2nd setter and they should have open scholarships available.
Outlook: Another season of transition with making the tournament being the goal. 2019 is probably the best Kansas recruiting class since the 2014 class of Payne, Havilli, and Rigdon. The 2018 class was strong and 2020 should also be solid – giving Kansas 3 straight years of excellent recruiting as they are accumulating elite number (quantity) of senior aces on the roster for 2020-21.

Kansas State (15-12, 5-11) Pablo #48
Nonconference: 10-1 nonconference put Kansas State in the mix for an NCAA berth where they ended up being one of the last two teams left out. A sweep of Hawaii to start the season was the highlight and the only loss being to Marquette.
Conference: Kansas State lost their first 6 matches of the conference season – including the opening conference home match loss to Texas in 5 sets (17-19 in the 5th). They ended the season going 5-5 with a road win against Baylor and sweeping Kansas. Players Lost: (3 starters) Kylee Zumach, Alyssa Schultejans, Devan Fairfield, Macy Flowers, Zsofia Gyimes, Reilly Killeen, Abigal Archibong
Additions: Anna Dixon, Faith Hammontree, Loren Hinkle, Dru Kuck, Teana Adams-Kaonochi
Black Ink: 31.0
Kansas State will be returning SO Gloria Mutiri (RS) who is probably the best RS in the conference. Also returning will be Sarah Dixon (S), Elle Sandbothe (MB), and Peyton Williams (MB). Top 50 senior ace Anna Dixon who graduated early will probably fit into one of the open OH positions replacing Zumach/Schultejans. Sophomore Brooke Heyne is likely to also start at OH after hitting .230 last year in 43 sets as a freshman last year. Outlook: K-State has posted their 2019 schedule – and the nonconference schedule is pretty weak. They may need to get out of non-conference with no more than 1 loss. There is enough talent on this team to make the tournament. A lot will depend on how quickly their new outsides get up to speed and how good Mutiri gets in her sophomore season.

Oklahoma (17-11, 9-7) Pablo: #35
Nonconference: Oklahoma swept Texas A&M and also beat Georgia for their best wins. Losses to Pittsburgh and Colorado along with VCU and North Carolina. Conference: They didn’t have any marque wins – losing twice to Texas and Baylor, the home Texas loss was in 5 sets. Players Lost: (2 starters) Alyssa Enneking, Morgan Miller, Madison Drescher
Additions: Sanaa’ Dotson, Rylie Gregston, Abigail Butler, Oliva Curtis, Paige Johnson
Black Ink: 19.0
2018 was a successful season in Lindsay Gray-Walton’s first season at Oklahoma. Tied for 3rd in conference and the 4th best Pablo in conference at #35. They swept Kansas State for their only Pablo top 50 wins. Their only losses outside the top 60 were to VCU and North Carolina. Enneking is a huge loss with senior ace freshman Dotson possibly being the replacement. 1st Team all-conference Kylie McLaughlin (S) and Keyton Kinley (L) return along with middle blockers Paige Anderson and Briana Kadiku. Sarah Sanders returns as one of the Pins – coming up with their OH will be the key.
Outlook: Oklahoma should be in the mix for a tournament bid – a better nonconference schedule would help. So much of their production came from Enneking – they will probably need a much more balanced attack this year.

TCU (15-12, 7-9) Pablo #53
Nonconference: TCU’s 3 nonconference losses came to Florida State, Cincinnati, and Colorado State – all within the Pablo top 40. TCU won the rest of their matches – but none against a team in the Pablo top 100. Conference: TCU lost in 5 sets at home to both Texas and Baylor. They split with Iowa State, Kansas, Kansas State, Texas Tech and Oklahoma. Players Lost: (3 starters) Anna Walsh, Lexi MacLean, Paty Valle, Tori Dilfer
Additions: Audrey Nails, McKenzie Nichols, Julia Adams, Afedo Manyang, Ina Ignacio, Madi Cole, Bella Swafford
Black Ink: 56.5
All Conference sophomore ‘elan McCall returns. McCall hit .269 with 4.7 kills per set in her freshman season while only playing in 78 of the team’s 102 sets. Her health is critical to this team. This is a dynamite freshman class coming in led by T25 recruits Nails and Adams and T50 recruits Nichols and Manyang. Katie Clark returns after a successful freshman season along with junior Sarah Swanson. Outlook: This team is young and very talented. They are losing two of their most productive players in MB Anna Walsh and setter Tori Dilfer – but there are plenty of options to replace them and improve elsewhere. McCall is a great anchor to start with. The upside for this team is rather high.

Texas Tech (17-13, 6-10) Pablo #59
Nonconference: #37 Rice was the biggest win in an 11-3 nonconference schedule. Losses to Georgia, UCSB, and Long Beach State – LBSU being the worst loss where they lost 13-15 in the 5th set.
Conference: Texas Tech started off 4-0 with wins over Baylor, Iowa State, and Kansas State. They then proceeded to lose 5 straight and 10 of their final 12 matches. Players Lost: (2 starters) Katy Keenan, Missy Owens, Kyndal Cowan
Additions: Cadi Boyer, Caitlin Dugan, Lauren Dodson, Kylie Trefflich, Audrey Tuttle
Black Ink: 10.5
A surprising good season from Tech last year where leading scorer Emily Hill (OH) and sophomore Brooke Kanas return. Also returning will be OH Chandler Atwood, MB Allison White, and L Emerson Solano. Replacing setter Missy Owens will be vital with sophomores Alex Kirby and Audrey Smith being the options. Freshman Boyer could be the MB replacement for Keenan.
Outlook: 2018 conference season was wildly inconsistent like most of the Big 12 teams. It becomes difficult to tell who was playing well (or bad) and who was playing teams at the right time. The main issue is going to be setter – Hill and Kanas provide enough offensive stability.

West Virginia (11-19, 2-14) Pablo #134
Nonconference: West Virginia had a nice road win against Florida Gulf Coast in 5 sets. Bad losses against Wright State and Albany.
Conference: Their conference wins were at home against Kansas State and Texas Tech. They lost 5 set matches against Baylor, Kansas, and TCU.
Players Lost: None
Additions: Audrey Adams, Kentessa Lawson, Natalie Winter, Carly Wood
Black Ink: 10.0
The good news is everyone returns along with the addition of top 40 recruit Lawson. West Virginia’s season wasn’t too bad last year considering they had no seniors on the roster and their top player (Peyton Caffrey) from 2017 transferred to Florida State. Outlook: Should be better with everyone back and the addition of Lawson. It may take a lot to get out of last place or much better.

TCU will be intriguing for sure. Tons of talent on the pins, but who's going to set them?
