Fantastic roster! Big Ten represent!!! Agree that Poulter is the only real surprise. I’m mildly surprised that Rettke is there instead of Gibbemeyer, and I hate to say it as a Gopher...but it’s the right move. Question for me is does Rettke eventually take Dixon’s spot when Foluke is back on the roster. I kind of want to change a few of my votes on the Tokyo thread! For future rosters this season it won't matter too much as Rettke will be back in class at some point. Is that a month or so from now? Crap, summer just started and feels like it's almost over. Anyway, looking ahead more to Tokyo 2020, it seems that Foluke coming back and Ogbogu where she's at would put Rettke among a group of several (Gibby, Dixon, Washington, maybe Adams) battling for the 3rd roster spot. Assuming there are only 3 taken.

This roster makes me wish you could take 14 for OG. Add Hill and Foluke in for some of these current players and it’s a great roster.
Does this mean the decline for Lloyd/Hancock? Lowe? Etc.

Never understood why a 13th spot wasn’t added when the libero position was added. And why on earth basketball gets 15 .

But posters here seem to know there’s not much value or importance in those goodwill types of games. And you’re right, wishinwestcoastvb; makes one wish for 14!

For Tokyo, I think Courtney and Lake will both be cut, Robinson moves to Libero. Now need to find spots for Hill and Foulkawonda (I’ll learn to spell that before Tokyo).

...and foecke not sure if she can handle the pressure. Said no one ever. Whether she's experienced enough, especially passing the Mikasa ball against world class servers, is the appropriate concern. Handling psychological pressure isn't, she feeds on big moments.

I agree on Courtney and Lake, though with such a small roster I would lean more toward Courtney over Lake because Courtney, in an emergency situation, would be more able to fill in at OH. I am guessing we don't end up with a 3rd setter in 2020. In 2016 we took 3 OH; 3MB; 3S; 2Opp; 1L. My assumption would be a 4th OH like Foecke in place of a 3rd setter. But, that probably is also impacted by relative health of each position group.

Just wondering if someone is needed to “fill in” at OH which would you want? Or, use Jordan Larson as a fill in at OH/L. Wish Karch would have played her at L in Russia.

I don’t think Mary Lake has any business on the Tokyo roster, but she’s the best cheerleader we’ve got 😉

I knew after I wrote that I was fairly unclear on my meaning, but was too lazy to edit I meant that between Lake and Courtney (If I was forced to choose one), I would choose Courtney due to versatility on a small roster. But, I also agreed that I think they'll both end up off the roster and Robinson will be the Libero. So, sorry about that. I agree that Larson would provide added emergency depth at Libero. Evidently, so can MBH and Foecke So, call them OH or Ls, but I think you take no fewer than 4, possibly as many as 5: MBH, Hill, Larson, Robinson and Foecke if you want 5. Or, take the top 4 and assume Robinson is Libero, but bring a 3rd OPP who could, in a pinch, flex to OH. REally, this is all more of a, "Plan for the worst. Hope for the best" kind of roster construction thinking

Getting real close to stanning Karch... That’s how much I love this roster. There's no Extra Credit for doing the obvious. But she’s no longer completely f*cking up and that deserves a lil back pat
