Our hopes dependent on T2 now who will face Mol/Sorum. Ughh. 2 points! Poor Dalcena. But from what guest2 and dunninla3 writes, indeed sounds encouraging going forward with the season.

that was actually, for me, and encouraging loss. If Phil can take priority on the hubby/wife serves several points would have gone their way that didn't. Thats always been so frustrating about this team, just be aggressive. Also when Phil hits on two and it doesnt work, he gives up on it too much. How that team struggled against Thailand is just mindboggling

How that team struggled against Thailand is just mindboggling Phil needs to bring that on 2 more often. I always feel like he doesn’t do it enough. That throws teams off and 75% of the time it works because he’s hammering the ball at such a high contact point and angle. Another 3 setter loss. How many 3 setters have they lost this year...

Anyways, Dalcena has officially moved ahead of Crabb/Gibb in entry points. They’re no longer tied.
720 (Gstaad), 600 (Vienna), 720 (Doha), and 480 (Jinjiang) brings them to 2520 points.
T2 will have minimum 2200 entry points by the end of this tournament.

Evandro getting every serve and swinging away against Stoya is really something to see. All those reps seem to be helping the jump serve too because he is putting Russia in trouble on every serve. This team is playing like Ive hoped they would all year. Hopefully that doesnt change when Russia goes to Bruno. 23flavors whats the feeling in Brazil about these guys? Is it waiting for the inevitable wins or do they see them as a team in crisis?

Another 3 setter loss. How many 3 setters have they lost this year... THIS 3 setter was against the best team in the world and Dalcena played them to extra points in the 3rd set -- I'd say that has a different meaning.

Really an old school weekend. Brazil and the US playing really well on both the men's and women's side, particularly after Brazil posted some embarrassing results at home. Two semis and a finalist on the men's side, then 4 in the quarters and, if seeds hold, teams in both semis on the women's. US has 1 men's team in semis, another that took world no. 1 to the limit, and one semi on the women's side despite their best team at home

Wondering if G2 wants to admit he was horrifically wrong about Tri not being an elite blocker? How about it G2?

I've always held the belief that Phil hits on two WAY MORE TIMES when he is mad than when he is calculating. It should be a strategic move not an emotional one. If it's "emotional", you do it "as the situation dictates", no sooner, no later. If you do it strategically, you do it whenever, wherever the pass dictates. Anecdotal evidence in my case, for sure, but I've watched PLENTY of games of Phil's and I can "almost tell" when he's going to do it, and it's not related to opportunity, just frustration...IMHO....

Wondering if G2 wants to admit he was horrifically wrong about Tri not being an elite blocker? How about it G2? Trevor was just as good as Tri blocking in that match, at least the parts I saw, and Russia's problem was they tried to disrespect the block and just bang away, same reason Casebeer and Bomgren get a lot of blocks. I watched three men's matches this morning, in full or in part, and every team in all those matches had a better blocker than Tri and not by a little. Mol, Stoya, Phil, those are elite blockers. Tri is not. Nikita on the team they beat is a much better blocker than Tri and even Evandro, the worst 6'11 blocker in the history of volleyball changes hitters in a way Tri can't dream of. Our disagreement though is because you don't understand the meaning of elite. Anyone you see as better than Webber or Beranek you label elite. For me elite means the top 10-25% depending on context

Any good opportunity for Phil on two is a higher percentage swing than a perfect set to Nick. He just wont do it. Predictable or not, its better He still has that lower level prejudice where any time he gets dug or blocked he immediately starts setting his partner again, even if his partner gives up chances on 50% of his swings

Tri's blocking is far superior to average blocker, we're not saying he's Mol, never did or would.

We are just bickering over semantics. Since you are apparently just saying Tri is above average, I have no issue with that. I don't agree, but its arguable.

Tri IMHO is just really good all around player on the FIVB. He's really really good at every skill, comparatively, to everyone else. Doesn't matter 8f it's blocking, or defense. Wish we had more like him, and I do think Trevors blocking has improved on the FIVB level, and I'm really hoping this team can keep moving forward.
Wtf is Crabb Gibb thinking not playing these. Bad decision imho.
