I felt the same way about Logan Tom and how she was dismissed. And Zeng Chunlei ahead of the Brazil OG. But these things happen, and we judge the coaches later by whether the choices resulted in something better or worse. Very true. Abrupt changes like this do happens, but I guess Ze Roberto could have handled roster changes a little better. He probably felt he needed to do what is best for the team in terms of increasing the chance of winning gold at the Olympics. But the aftermath is bad blood between players and coach. Agree, but it hurts especially when when you think about how the veterans could have impacted their team’s outcome in the tournament. 2012 Brazil won the whole thing, so won’t say much about Fernanda, but I still think about how Brazil would have finished in 2016 if Brait was their libero. Not saying Leia (her replacement) played poorly, but surely the vast amount of match experience Brait had would have made a difference. Same could be said for Heather Bown in 2012, that one stung a lot more because Bown was such a rock solid player for the US for at least a decade prior.

Oh this brought back...not so pleasant memories. I was saying on a thread once that Karch had the right as a coach to cut Tom from the roster, but the hysterical posters thought I was saying I agree with his decision. I said he had that power, but that doesn't mean I concur with what he did. Ah, nuances seem to be lost on some here.

Closely tied in the 2nd and Fawcett makes 3 hitting errors in a short span. That's gotta hurt

Lloyd on the bench now. USA has definitely a setting problem. Hancock might be starting this summer.

There was a rumor that Ze Roberto wanted Sheilla back in the NT. I have the impression that the average age of Brazilian players will be over 40 at the Olympics

I have the impression that the average age of Brazilian players will be over 40 at the Olympics Shelia is getting ready to step back on the court after the birth of her kid. But I was always under the impression she will play only in the domestic Brazilian league, as she knows her top form during her NT playing days are in the past. If Ze calls her back, it would confirm a sore lack of talent in the current Brazilian program. The question is why.

Opp is the least of Brazil's worries so I don't see how her return will help much, unfortunately.
