It was an epic match. This is truly one for the ages. I can only imagine how the players felt by both teams. Must have felt like the Olympic or something.

I attended the match as a volleyball fan, not necessarily rooting for any one team/player. I've never seen a match at the Stan Sheriff center. I could not have been more impressed. Top notch volleyball. Great environment. Wonderful experience.
I didn't see any poor sportsmanship. I thought the fans and the teams were great. There was an issue in the semi-finals with the up ref prematurely/incorrectly blowing the whistle twice that got the fans pretty riled up. But other than that, it was a great environment.
There was a situation with Long Beach in the semi-finals where TJ showed great sportsmanship toward a UCSB middle that got hit in the head hard on a block. That was nice to see.
There were a few UC-Irvine Dads that were a bit obnoxious but they were few and far between. I'm guessing alcohol had something to do with it. No big deal.
The home field advantage there is significant. It was soooooo loud during intros and at various points during the match. That has to have an impact on performance. What a great place to watch a volleyball match! Fantastic tournament.

Yeah I heard the up ref had the hiccups or bloating, I don’t remember which. A great match between 2 great teams. Let’s see if there’s a round 4. I hear the final will be on ESPN 2.

So, if Hawaii and LBSU met in the NCAA Finals, would that be the Match of the Century II?
I suspect that if someone were to actually spend the time to look back on history to determine the Top 10 Matches of the Century in men's volleyball, I wonder if the 2019 UH-LBSU match(es) would make the list. You'd have to go back to the UCLA days of Al Scates and Karch & Co.

If Hawaii and Long Beach met for the National Championship, I wish it would be on a neutral court. Long Beach won at the Pyramid and Hawaii won at Stan Sheriff. It would be very interesting to see them play somewhere neutral for the NC.

I finally watched this match and it did not disappoint. Happy to see Hawaii come away with the W.
And looking forward to seeing these two teams battle it out again for the natty.

Long Beach will win in 5 at the pyramid If these two teams battle in the finals it’s a toss up between the two. The Big West trophy will bear the same weight as the natty title so it doesn’t really matter who wins it.

No the Big West championship and the national title does not bear the same weight and I'm sure it does matter who wins it.

Natty is way way way way more important

But my point is if these two end up facing again in the natty finals it will be more about bragging rights. These two teams are very equal in terms of talent and athleticism that they’re in a totally different level from the rest. Clearly the Big West was the most dominant conference this year.

The national championship is still the bigger match...maybe you should ask the players which championship they would want more the conference championship or the national championship since you think it doesn't matter who wins the national championship.

I get your point. Im just saying these two teams would rather lose to each other than anyone else that’s in the tournament.
