Agree with donut , Parker is an absolute baller, unless she faces injury that keeps her off the court (or PSU has a bad season-not likely), it would be very difficult for me to see her not making it. Lake makes everyone around her better and just makes passing/defense look easy. Gneiting was NFOY and so gifted and plays the game so fluidly. Others I could go on, but I guess not room for everyone, it honestly depends on how well the teams do to see who gets many of the spots. As we know team performance dictates opportunities for players to get on these lists.

White may be the obvious first choice (don't think she'll be First Team again unless Penn State has a revelation next year on the left side), and even if White makes a team, I still think Penn State gets at least 1 more, especially if they're seeded going into the tourney. Parker, to me, just seems like the most likely to step up as the "go-to" hitter, and if Hord and Gray are going to be as good next year as I think they will be, I think that will just open up more opportunities for Parker. To me, she just seems like the surest bet after White to have an AA year. Lake and Gneiting are different. BYU is a mid-major and you saw what 1 loss did to their ranking last year. I think they'll have more than 1 loss this year (I don't think they've released their OOC schedule yet?) and could be seeded 8-16, but if they're going to do well, I think they'll need a pin to step up to replace RJP (Miller is well poised to do this). If Miller gets AA, as an 8-16 team, I don't see them getting 2 more AAs.

Yep, reaching that regional final seems to make it a possibility, obviously final four makes three likely, we'll see how BYU does. Yes, I imagine the regional final and beyond is what is expected by PSU standards, just making a regional I imagine would be a disappointing season. I am excited for the season and looking forward to my first visit to University Park this fall!

NOT disagreeing w/ the sentiments of the previous two posters -- I DO disagree with the OP's prognostication re: Parker/Lake -- But, this is a TEAM game. Awards are often cart-before-horse (in other words: if you ask most ANY top player if they'd rather have an AA accolade instead of a NC team championship, most All will prefer an NCAA title: first & foremost)! Invariably so.

When's the last time a returning AA won a natty and didn't get AA again?

When's the last time a returning AA won a natty and didn't get AA again? I can't make out which one of these two you are asking: 1. When's the last time a player was an AA and won the NC, and then the next year didn't get AA again? OR 2. When's the last time a player was an AA, and then the near year won the NC but didn't get AA again? (If you're asking #1, I think the most recent is Ali Frantti in 2015. Before that, Rachael Kidder in 2012.)

Gonna throw in some SEC names merely for conversation purposes.
Holly Carlton (OPP/Florida)- Even though the Gators will most likely move back to a true 5-1, the middle and right side heavy offensive game plan probably won't change much if the passing is there. Look for her numbers to go up. Not much of a need for her to play six rotations but I wouldn't be surprised if they tried it at some point during the season. 2.46 kps, .276%, .86 bps
Kylie Deberg (OH/Missouri)- Her kills per set steadily increased as the season went on but her efficiency was inconsistent. She's already proved herself a solid server and will more than likely be leaned on to be the go-to option on the outside and play six rotations in the fall. One does wonder if she will be asked to serve receive. Passing with two was not the strongest part of Mizzou's game last year (though it didn't happen often). *3.57, .214%, 1.6 dps, .53 bps, .50 service aces/set
Mikayla Shields (OPP/South Carolina)- Her numbers were solid last year so I think it's fair to expect the same next season. For her to be firmly in the conversation, she'll need to improve her hitting percentage and most importantly, the Gamecocks need to do much better than 20-10, 10-8 in conference. *3.23 kps, .275%, 2.41 dps, .54 bps
Tessa Grubbs (OH/Tennessee)- The biggest question will be if Grubbs will play six rotations. Offense is where the Vols will need her the most but if she can greatly increase her numbers in at least one other area (digs or aces), stay healthy, and Tennessee builds upon their hot start with a new head coach, she's got a chance. *4.19 kps, .276%, .42 bps
Caitlyn Cooper (OPP/Kentucky)- It feels like Kentucky's best chance to have someone not named Edmond or Lilley on an All American list is Cooper. Her hitting percentage was great last year and if she maintains her starting position throughout the season and increases her kills per set, it would be easy to make a case for her. *2.13 kps, .336%, .57 bps
