Not sure Foeke's passing would have helped but it would have been nice to have a Hill/Bartch/Larson/Robinson there today.
So for Nebraska, the ad on the USAV site shows Larson, Robinson and Hill, can we expect the big 4 (or at least those 3) at OH, and Carlini and/or Lloyd, and maybe replace Thompson? so Or does Karch enjoy the youth movement enough to take this crew for another week?

HORRIBLE passing! Those serves were not that hard. USA could hardly EVER get an offense going, defenders were not moving or ready half the time, and bad decisions on the 2nd ball (including non-setters taking the 2nd ball when they didn't need to). The team was way out of sync. Does Dom Rep realize this is our B-/C team? Because the coach and most players just acted like they won the entire tourney. It’s wonderful when you defeat USA, no matter if it’s your B or Z team... USA is USA, as you can see it’s your first lost....

I don’t see any path toward starting in an Olympic Games for Wilhite or Kingdon as anything other than a stabilizing solid passing OH2. Karch must see this possibility for them otherwise why bother keeping them around. Those two need to prove their worth without any of the top four OH’s being around to bail them out. God knows they had at least some support around them, our MB’s continue to be the stars of the USA VNL. Need someone to pass so our setters, middles and opposites can grow.

I don’t think Karch believes there is any way his team does not qualify for the Olympic Games. He showed that hand by who he selected for the first two weeks and how he managed his roster. I am pleased he is providing the next generation of USA VB the opportunity to show their stuff.

Still mad that she decommitted when Pete left? Not in the least. I also won't be mad when she cannot find a team on which to play next year because she can't pass or hit. Wait, maybe she'll be on a cute German team like those twins. If you can't say anything nice... come sit next to me.

God knows they had at least some support around them, our MB’s continue to be the stars of the USA VNL. You may be right about asking them to perform without a net. But I don't know about them having a shot at Tokyo. I think the idea is that all of these players just came off of a long pro season. To ask any of them to go straight through the summer, and next pro season, and then right back into the gym for a July 24th Olympics is asking for at least a couple of them to break down. Bartch finished her pro season about a week before VNLs so by all means, she needs a rest. Larson is 33, so if she needs a couple weeks off or relative light duty, amen to that. And in addition to VNL's and Olympic qualifying, they have the Pan Am games and the Canada scrimmages and so on. They are going to need extra arms and legs to get through it all so I don't think their being here necessarily means they have a shot to make the Olympic team as much as they are needed to give opportunities to other players who do have a chance, and to provide depth heaven forbid somebody gets injured. That said, nobody knew the middles or Drews would be THIS good. Team USA could have gone 0-3 this week. If they are going with 3 from pool B this week and 4 from pool A next week, I'd have rather had one of the top 4 on-call this week, and then give one of the next 4 a chance with the top group in Nebraska especially when we played this week with a short roster, having not replaced Foecke. I'm sure there is a very sound statistical reason why they did what they did, and I'm very happy it didn't blow up in our faces.

Chiaka and Washington both have been stand-outs when they've put on USA jerseys. They also had really good pro seasons. It's not like they came out of nowhere, they just haven't been given enough chances to compete against top competition until this VNL.

Next week they face South Korea, Germany, and Brazil. Germany shouldn't be a threat and though Kim Yeon Koung is joining whatever roster USA brings they should be able to win it without much effort. Brazil who might be missing key players will still be difficult as Natalia is expected to return. Karch needs to try Cuttino at some point and this would be a good time since we got an idea of what Drews/Thompson can bring based off these first two weeks.
The following week(#4) in China will be a battle as their opponents also include Turkey and Poland.

They just mad about the 8 match losing streak. I'm (not) sorry! They walked into that one. So THIS is what a MN/WI fandom can get like. Honestly surprised it took this long to come out. Ew. When it comes to the NT, I'm an USA fan first. I honestly root for MN except when we're playing them. That goes for their players as well. HOWEVER, Wilhite and the Tapps are not NT quality and that doesn't make me mad, angry nor a MN hater. I feel the same way about the Rolfzens. Doesn't mean I hate NE (although I do). Weren’t the Rolfzen, or one of them, projected to be the future NT outside(s)? We probably need their passing and attacking.

But was it necessary? Classy. Indeed. I'm starting to regret quipping on this thread. If anyone can tell me how to stop "following" this (i.e. getting a NEW notification in the "Participated" tab), please let me know. The excuses for the rookies, %*$#ting on the fledglings, and praising of the vets that also get equally shat on when they do play was funny for about two seconds. Edit: Did not know proboards can autocensor. I thought posters just didn't like swearing. I see. Huh.

Being objective, not necessarily a bad thing for US to lose a match in the preliminary rounds, now they know which areas they need to work on to improve...I hope.

I don't recall the Rolfzens, one of whom played middle, to be great passers. We've seen how the best passers, JWO, did on the NT. Not cute.

But yeah, that clearly doesn’t always translate to the next level
