I really don’t understand why we’re wasting time rotating our outsides as Liberos when that time can go to our younger Liberos here at home. Because the missing liberos were unexpected and it isn’t easy to get somebody to Russia at a moment’s notice. ...they got Foecke there.

Kelsey pronounces "Guangzhou" correctly, including the intonation
(it's not hard, just mimic a native speaker as if they're singing a song)

Watching Kelsey's new vlog post on YouTube which addresses some passport issues with Mary Lake - interesting Q and As in the rest of the video. Ok, I did not find that annoying as I thought I would. It was actually funny!

Finally got a chance to watch this match. First set was fun for the American's, Thailand started by focusing on serving the libero, Foecke. It didn't work, as she passed very well and U.S.'s outsides released and hit exceedingly well into the gaps in the Thai defense. Pretty unstoppable. Also, the Thai committed to running a bunch of tandems, U.S. stayed bunched and blocked them all up. In the 2nd set, Thai changed their defense and their offense (spreading the ball to the pins) and were pretty successful, tooling line. Additionally, they started to serve strategic and aggressively, not just keying on one passer, but instead working to exploit front court hitters, mixing depths and hitting varied seams. U.s. started to struggle as Carlini, perhaps emulating the Thai tight and fast and low setting, started to set Ohs fast, low and past the pin (our outsides must've fell trying to reach those balls and better them many times), not quite hitting the ball with the same efficacy. In the first set her sets were better, higher and the girls just "goliathed" the ball over the "david" blocks. Only Karsta and Gibb were successfully hitting like the rest of the team did the first set. In the third, that steadied out..., while the service pressure of the U.S., pushed the Thai out of system much of the game. Thai hitters, tho, started to try to hit the ball cross through the gap and Gibb wasn't having that (Lauren was really strong in this match), from some reason, too, they went back to the defense they played in the first set and balls continued to fall untouched. It was a very quick, lingering only a bit at the end, as U.S. lost their ball control edge and the Thai played with fresh sub legs. .

Did anyone notice what Thailand was doing when USA was receiving in ro 1 Indeed... was shocked Karsta had the presence of mind to not fault. Clever from Thailand.. but what really was the end game there? Surely they didn't really believe they'd rack up points that way.
