Karch just totally avoided a question about Foecke going next year, which was pretty much already a given Said Thompson was leaving after the fall and looking to play half a season of pro Foecke is really only one injury away, though. I heard that part about Thompson. And Plummer. Doubt there will be others. Only Rettke seems to be an option, but I have a hard time imagining her giving up her last year of eligibility. But, that is good news on Thompson. It ought to help her out a lot. I think most of us assume that she is one of the easy picks, if not a virtual lock for Tokyo. More time hitting against pros and then another VNL season will do so much more than Cincy is right now.

Karch also didn't even mention Karsta Lowe's name when listing the Opposites. But he was responding to Sundy's comment about top opposites on the NT being from Purdue. Karch seemed to be trying to avoid any roster implications in his response based on how the question was framed.
Foecke is still unproven and inexperienced. Clearly, this pro season in Italy is important to her development and to show what level she is at, but regardless, USA is going to have to rely on its more experienced hitters, particularly in the knock out rounds, if it wants to medal at the Olympics.

Karch just totally avoided a question about Foecke going next year, which was pretty much already a given Said Thompson was leaving after the fall and looking to play half a season of pro Where did he say this? Was there an interview somewhere? He was doing the color commentary on the Nebraska/Purdue match. If you have access to ESPN's live streaming, you can find a replay of it. The discussion in question began at about 1:47:44 of the replay. The discussion lasted through about 1:50:20. Started with Sunderland asking Karch about Foecke, then guiding the discussion through collegians...Thompson, Rettke, Butler, Plummer. Didn't mention Lake. Liberos are like kickers in football. No love or glory until you need a good one. I am not sure if it had already been confirmed or just assumed by everyone, but I think the general confirmation of Thompson intending to play half a pro season after her season ends was the biggest "news" out of Karch's comments. Not sure if this link will work, but if interested it should take you right before the spot, in theory: www.espn.com/watch?id=92c7e2d5-45b8-470f-960a-faed2b22351f

There was talk on here during the VNL about bringing Lake in for a tryout in January. Maybe with how well JWO has been doing, he’s written her off? If so, PLEASE take JWO. Courtney just is the answer.

Good to hear Karch still acknowledging Micha Hancock's existence

I knew the score when the discussion happened, it is at 1:15:15 just after a Stivrins kill to make it 18-11. The Foecke part of the discussion is cut out of this video, when it skips ahead after the Stivrins kill they are already talking about Thompson.

Courtney just is the answer. I think JWO and Lake are both in the conversation. At least the both should be. I see Megan Courtney shifting back to OH next quad which makes sense.

The catch with Foecke is she still wants to attend Vet school. I know I can't answer for her personally but she may not be around for the next quad. As aspiring veterinarians, Foecke and Maglio can talk about vet school together.

Courtney just is the answer. JWO is better, but if it comes down to lake or Courtney, I want Courtney. USA beat china with lake because of carlini. Lake is not bad but she's just simply not ready. The service pressure of international teams took a toll on her, teams very rarely target a libero from start to end of a match. Will Courtney has her own issues, it's wrong to hype up lake insuing shenis a better option than courtney
