I feel like the Netherlands haven't progressed much since Rio. Sure, fourth at the World Championships was nice, but they got there in large part because the US struggled hard that tournament.

Boskovic had other plans for Serbia. They claw their way back to win the match! Amazing! Poland, Netherlands and Turkey will be battling it out for the CEV ticket!

I am assuming Italy closes it out and gets their berth.

Quite a few (unexpected) cliff-hangers, but, in the end, the qualification pools played out as expected.

Morrison isn't much of a trainer. And to think that if Karch steps away after Tokyo, I expect the board to hire Morrison to take over... yikes. Neither is Black, for that matter. Both of these coaches are promulgating a system they copied, so the only real differentiator is demeanor/personality. The best we can hope for is that someone charismatic and experienced internationally steps forward with a better vision, or the results are poor enough to warrant someone at USAV evaluating the system.

Italy sweeps The Netherlands! Paola Egonu couldn’t be contained.

Terrible coaching by Morrison. It was his worst game with Dutch NT. All the tactics, timing of subs were terrible. They were so close at the end of the game 3 and served to Moki?

Serbia was boring as usual, playing with Boskovic-Mihajlovic duo 80 % of the time. I'm glad the middle Popovic attacked more balls compared to the game against Thailand, where she got only 1 set in 3 sets. Veljkovic with 0 block in 4 sets and Wolosz wasn't even playing as fast as in Imoco... Wolosz couldn't do much, Poland plays with a similar style but had less talent in each position, their middles need to step up, Kakolewska is super slow and the other one wasn't ready for this level yet,Smarzek was great.

You can bet that if they fail to qualify for the OG.....Morrison is out of a job. Guidetti will still be secure with Turkey as they are playing better than they ever have plus he is a staple at Vakifbank.

I agree. However you have to look at how far Poland have come this quad. What is scary and also unfortunate is how stacked Pools B, F and A (ish) were with good teams compared to Pools D, E and C. Luck of the draw plays a large part in tournaments like these. Also Poland wouldn't have even participated in this tournament if Cuba hadn't withdrawn.....so Poland deserve a round of applause. I agree with your technical assessment especially concerning their middles. Wolosz might play another quad but might not continue to play with the NT.
