Which also means going by that theory, Lake sucks at passing in the gym more. Lake is there for her cheer-leading. #DelegationofDuties #Thompson2.0 lol

Jordan Thompson is a BEAST. I wonder if Cincy is going to let her play 6 rotations next season. I never watched her in college at all, but she can obviously handle herself at the Olympic level so she can of course do NCAA. Annie Drews also had an incredible run at the VNL. So the USA are loaded at OPP now. Who else, currently in NCAA, do you think could fight for an OPP spot on this team? I also wonder if Kathryn Plummer is going to try to make USA roster, or maybe pursue the Beach route? Not quite Olympic level, but yes. As a previous poster stated, playing 6 rotations is nothing new for her, she also moved to OH last season, I'm not sure if she will stay there or go back to OPP - I've looked at their roster and I didn't find it gave me any definitive answers. Plummer is going to attempt to make the indoor roster, and then see what happens from there (re: moving to Beach), as she has stated already. I don't see there being much more than a snowball's chance in hell of Plummer making the indoor roster for Tokyo. I had said 'maybe' as an OPP when the spring/summer started. In fact, I had hoped she would. I even voted for her on the thread where people were picking their Olympic rosters. Not anymore. Barring something dramatic, she can't crack the top-5, let alone the top 3 or 4 at OH no matter what she does. And, she'd be hard pressed to leap ahead of Lowe at OPP let alone Thompson and Drews. I am all for her setting her sights on 2020 and going hard after it. But, 2024 is what she'd be in the mix for if she wants to be.

Wonder if her limited time with the national team this summer will help with whatever you think needs to change.

Wonder if her limited time with the national team this summer will help with whatever you think needs to change. She has struggled physically in a number of matches at the NCAA level. In order to be successful at the next level, she'll need to figure out a regimen that works better for her. She might have to try a few different approaches until she finds the right strategy or combination.

He'd fit in perfectly here on VT I'm going to try and talk to Hentz at the Stanford Meet and Greet on August 26th and ask her about the Olympics ... we badly need a POWER SURGE at the L position!!! Ask her how she feels about Lake saying she’s better than her.

In all seriousness, maybe she’ll be held or hold herself more accountable for an improvement in her stamina, health, etc. once she’s getting paid to play volleyball professionally

We have no idea whether or not she can pass at this level. Not sure how we'd find out in 1/2 a year either. That's a fair point ... therefore if she really wants to commit she'll have to start passing that Mikasa rock in January 2020. Whether it is at Stanford in the practice gym or elsewhere, that would be priority one.

Plummer's physical training will be different once she turns pro. A lot of US players have mentioned that as a huge priority / change from being an 'amateur'.
I agree that Plummer's chances for Tokyo are looking rather slim, unless she has an other-worldly season overseas starting in January at Opp.

Ask her how she feels about Lake saying she’s better than her. Ask her if she can hold her own passport. OKAY sorry for the pettiness I laughed! Considering how bad Megan Courtney has looked, Mary Lake would be playing if Karch thought she could do any better. If I had to put money on it, I think Robinson will be the starting Libero in Tokyo.

Problem with Robinson at libero is that she's been really good at OH. And, if the last few weeks have shown anything, it's that Karch also thinks she's the best you've got there. I do think, though, that Robinson at L is the way it may have to ultimately go because you would gain more with Robinson at libero than you would lose with her not being at OH. I think Hill, MBH, Larson and Foecke would be just as good as Robinson, Hill, MBH and Larson at that spot.
