Preseason All-MAC Teams
Preseason East All-MAC TeamPolina Prokudina, Buffalo Gaby Harper, Miami Margaret Payne, Miami Vera Giacomazzi, Ohio Tia Jimerson, Ohio Lizzie Stephens, Ohio Preseason West All-MAC TeamAmber Seaman, Ball State Sydnee VanBeek, Ball State Kalina Smith, Central Michigan Cassie Haut, Eastern Michigan Zoe Birnbrich, Toledo Rachel Bontrager, Western Michigan Bowling Green is second favorite to win the league, but has none of the top 6 players in their division? They are a scrappy bunch of "team first" players. They do all the little things that don't necessarily show up on the stat sheet. The hustle plays. VBIQs off the charts. Pure moxie.

Too sad what's happened to the Bobcat program.

Too sad what's happened to the Bobcat program. Agreed. Also... Miami got absolutely obliterated in their exhibition against Louisville. Potential down year for this conference?

I'm not sure what the Conference RPI was that year. They tend to have one or two decent teams and a bunch of really bad teams. I love the MAC because it's always super competitive and I get to see a bunch of local club players and HS players that I know.

The Bobcats have a first place vote, and are picked behind only the defending co-champs. Not too shabby.

The Redhawks are off to a 2-1 start, with victories over Virginia Tech and USC-Upstate.
The Golden Flashes are also off to a 2-1 start, besting EKU and Gardner Webb.
The Bobcats were able to avoid a winless opening weekend with a convincing win over Northeastern.
The Zips got their lone win be squeaking out a four setter vs Bryant
The Falcons' lone win was a stunner against an otherwise red hot Wright St squad.
And Zoe B guides her big bad Rockets to a victory over Loyola Chicago.

Michigan MAC Week 1:
After starting the 2018 campaign 3-18, Mike Gawlik's Central Michigan Chippewas went 3-0 to open 2019 at the Terrier Classic in Brooklyn. CMU's dynamic MB duo of sophomore Maddie Whitfield and junior transfer Lisbeth Rosario-Martinez were named to the All Tournament team.
The Western Michigan Broncos also open the season 3-0 after winning the Purdue Fort Wayne Invitational with a sweep of South Alabama and two 5-set thrillers over the host Mastadons and Northern Kentucky. Junior OH Rachel Bontrager was named tournament MVP and was joined on the All Tournament team by senior libero Kathleen Reilly and redshirt sophomore MB Charley Andrews.
Darcy Dorton made her head coaching debut for the defending MAC tournament champion Eastern Michigan Eagles at the Utah State Invitational. EMU fought off 3 match points in the tournament opener against the host Aggies before winning in 5. Eastern dropped the last two matches against Southern Utah and Xavier, going 1-2 for the weekend. Junor OH Frankie Stefling led the team with 28K for the tournament.
