This is a contest on the first Hawaii match of the season. Currently, the schedule calls for a home match against San Diego on August 30, 2019. If, for some reason, this San Diego match is not played, e.g., Hurricane, the next match in the schedule will be considered Match #1 and all entries will apply to that match instead.
You may enter this contest by simply answering a series of prompts found in the II. Format section (below). Please follow all the rules.
This is a Hawaii-centric contest. Almost all (if not all) of the prompts are about Hawaii or its players. Please don't complain that I don't have a prompt about your beloved San Diego team. (I personally know nothing about San Diego, other than Jennifer Petrie is the head coach, the school nickname is “Toreros,” and they wear a sort of powder blue colored uniform.)
Contest Start Date: August 19, 2019, 12:01 AM (Pacific)
Contest End Date: August 28, 2019, 11:30 PM (Pacific)
I. Rules:
1. Submit an entry via a post in this thread in the format specified in the section II. Format, below. Only one (1) entry per VT username (and one real live person) is permitted. A real live person cannot submit multiple entries with multiple VT usernames.
2. Your entry must include an answer to at least one prompt in the section II. Format, below. (Contest point value per prompt is provided in parentheses.)
3. Your score is the sum of all points (specified in the II. Format section, below) from your correct answers to the prompts.
4. TIES. In case of ties, I will use tiebreaker prompt #T1 and, if it's still tied, #T2.
T1 is provided below in the II. Format section.
T2 is the Date/Time Stamp of your posted entry.
For T2, earlier submissions win. If the Date/Time Stamp is not clear, I will go with the relative positions of the posts in this thread. The post closer to the top of the thread wins. Note that it is impossible to have ties because of this Date/Time Stamp tiebreaker rule. In addition, if you simply copy someone else's entry, it is impossible for you to win 1st place as the person you copied from will have an earlier Date/Time Stamp.
5. After posting your entry, please do NOT edit it, for whatever reason. If you edit your entry post, that particular entry will be DISQUALIFIED in its entirety. Rather than edit your entry post, simply delete the entry post you DO NOT want and repost again with the entry you DO want.
6. The Contest Start Date is August 19, 2019 (12:01 AM, Pacific time). The Contest End Date is August 28, 2019 (11:30 PM, Pacific time). Any entry submitted before the Contest Start Date or after the Contest End Date will be disqualified.
7. I reserve the right to disqualify any submitted entry. I will automatically disqualify entries (the ENTIRE entry) that have been edited. I will also disqualify entries (the whole damn entry) that contain the following:
a. player jersey numbers instead of names
b. phrases that are conditional, e.g., "Brooke Van Sickle IF it's not Kyra Hanawahine"
c. negative phrases, e.g., "Not Jolie Rasmussen"
d. more than the required number of answers for any given prompt
e. use of OR phrases, e.g., “Hanna Hellvig OR Riley Wagoner”
f. any reference to your prior or later answers. So, for example, if you listed “Smith” in one Prompt #10, don’t say “ditto” or “same as #10” for Prompt #11.
II. Format
Please copy the following text between the asterisk (*) borders, create a new post, paste this copied text into your new post, and add your answers after each prompt. (You do not need to copy and paste the asterisks themselves.) Each answer must be self-contained. Do not provide answers that use references, e.g., “ditto” or “same as #10” or “same as #1 but add Smith.” Do NOT make me check your answer by cross-referencing it with another one of your answers.
*******************
1. Name the Hawaii starting lineup, specifically, S, OH, OH, OH, M, M, L. You need not differentiate between OH and OPP. (7 pts: 1 pt for each correct name)
2. List all Hawaii players who plays at least one point up to and including the moment when one team reaches 15 points in the first set. Normally, this is the technical timeout, however in some cases, the technical timeout is not called because one team calls a timeout shortly before any team reaches 15 points. (Maximum number of points = number of players who actually plays) (Contest point value = number of correct answers - number of incorrect answers)
3. Which team will win the match? (3 pts)
4. What is the final score, in sets (regardless of team)? (e.g., 3-0, 3-1, 3-2) (2 pts)
5. Which team will score first in the first set? (1 pt)
6. Which team will call a timeout first in the first set? (1 pt)
7. Which team will reach the 15th point first in the first set? (1 pt)
8. What will be Hawaii's team hitting percent (in the format, 0.xyz) at the end of the match? (Contest point value: 3 pts if within +/- 0.010; 2 pts if within +/- 0.020; 1 pt if within +/- 0.030)
9. Which Hawaii player will get the first kill? (1 pt)
10. Which Hawaii player will serve first? (1 pt)
11. Which Hawaii player will be the first to pass the ball? (1 pt)
12. Which Hawaii player will get the first dig? (1 pt)
13. Which Hawaii player (if any) will get the first block? (Both "Block solo" and "Block assist" count as a "block.") (Your answer may also be "none”) (1 pt)
14. Which Hawaii player (if any) will get the first ace? (Your answer may also be "none") (1 pt)
15. Which Hawaii player will get the most kills by the end of the match? (1 pt)
16. Which Hawaii player will get the second most kills by the end of the match? (1 pt)
17. Which Hawaii player will have the highest hitting percentage by the end of the match? (1 pt)
18. Which Hawaii player will have more Assists -- Bailey Choy or Norene Iosia? (1 pt)
19. Which Hawaii player will be named "Player of the Match" (as determined by the broadcasting company)? (1 pt)
20. What will be the official attendance listed on the box score? (3 pts if answer is within +/-200; 2 pts if answer is within +/-400; 1 pt if answer is within +/-600) If no attendance number is listed in the box score, I will use whatever number is mentioned in Cindy Luis's post-game article. If she mentions a turnstile number and another number (usually tickets sold), I will use the turnstile number.
T1. (tiebreaker) Name the six Hawaii players who will play the first point of the first set. (The correct answer will be the six players on the court while the first served ball is in the air during the rally of the first point in the first set.)
