Jenna Gray is too predictable. Right...I predict she'll be first team all-american for a 3rd year in both volleyball and track and field (javelin)

I predicted a possible upset, and I almost got it right. I never believed Stanford was going to win in any of those games except the second, and they almost blew that one. Pretty simple for PSU: pass well, and you're done. Forget all the whining about outside hitters, if they pass just a little bit better, they win. Boy was I glad to see Fitzmorris star. I've been worried about her. Now to get through Minnesota that had a walkover against Oregon and then finish the non-conference schedule with Nebraska in the worst place in the country (OK, BYU, Seattle, and PSU are worse!). I would love to see Kipp on the right. She's a classic right side hitter, late jump, quick shoulder.

Penn State as the 4th best team in the country? I don’t think so. No decent OHs, and with Stanford playing terrible thus far, should’ve capitalized.
Kipp should be the opposite.
Waiting for Gray and Hentz to join the party.

Waiting for Gray and Hentz to join the party. Any other year in the past 10-12 no way should PSU be in the top 10 with this team maybe more. That being said, I would say the level of ball country wide is very inconsistent and the all the powerhouses have glaring issues (Stanford included) PSU drops 1 or 2 spots this weekend max. Thats it I didnt think it at the beginning but PSU IS a contender for a B1G title and to host. The outside will improve and Parker will be better as they find their identities and comfort levels. PSU's defense (65 digs to Stanford's 56) and passing kept them in that match. PSU's DS's/libero had 43 digs combined and 1 RE Almost half the offense went through the middle which is nod to the terminators there and the people doing their job to get it there. PSU HAS to get more from Jonni Parker. We all know Cathey is a terminal hitter, - kill or error and that will be that. Gorrell isnt an OH but was fine at times, but Parker just didnt have they match that I think she can play. (btw I am a big fan of this kid)

Oh ALSO.....
If Sandi Barbour doesn't work hard to keep Russ and re-up his contract she would be making a massive mistake.
Getting rid of all the Paterno era people on campus is just ridiculous.
Russ Rose is the hardest working coach I know, he simply gets more out of his players year in and year out than any coach in the game.
He has a ton left in the tank.
He is authentic. (a rare quality in the world)
- note to the Daily Collegian, CDT and PSU Sports Dept.

Long Version:
The 4th set dig by Hentz at 21-20 won the set and match for Stanford.

And classing v.Minnesota at Penn State as a neutral site is -to further overuse a poor battered word- disingenuous at best. Edit- oops- BYU's at Stanford (didn't know they played road games) and Stanford doesn't go to Seattle this year. What a wimp schedule.

I think this match proved that Penn State DOESN'T need a "top notch OH" to be very good (which is what everyone thought). This may have been in 4, but this was a very very close match. Parker (who plays more like an OH than a RS), Hord and Gray are all elite hitters, and Blossom was the better setter on the court tonight. They're still a top 4 team IMO, and thus I'd classify them as "very good." Based off statements he’s made, I think Rose himself may disagree with you. The OH spot is real weak RN. Regardless, they did better than I expected tonight. You're conflating my argument. I never said that the OH spot isn't a weakness for PSU. I said that that weakness doesn't prevent them from being a very good team. This is a very good team.
