Any updates on Westhampton? Believe it or not I'm an alum. In a pool of 3 Westhampton had the dreaded draw of playing back to back matches to start off the day. They went 0-4 and no chance to advance to Finals. James Dewitt and Grand Island , like it or not, can and did rest their starters and play their backups and JV kids to give them the States experience. This problem has played out quite a few times in the past years at States and I have suggested many times for have a rotating or floating 4th team to make it more like the Girls tourney. WHICH IS MUCH BETTER!! Whether it be Spencerport Sec. V or Burnt Hills or whoever Westhampton played could have had the alternating entry in to complete the 4 team tourney. Heck, all the cost is covering by each individual school and the NY Tourney staff can make more money at the gate.....far more benefits for all involved. Just rotate every year example LONG ISLAND CHAMPIONSHP messes this all up.....and we all know it. 2020-2021 Sect 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 8, 11 There are 7 sections .....I'm sure people could find a system of rotation to work it I expect Grand Island to sweep in the finals

NO weak stuff with pools. One chance to win in bracket format.

Keep the pool play format, have the #3 seed play the #2 seed in a best 3/5 at 3pm on Saturday (time slot where final normally is). #1 seed gets a bye and plays against the winner in the final Sunday morning. Boy’s volleyball is the only team sport I’m aware except for (cross country, etc.) where the entire tournament is compressed into 1 day. The NCAA tournament doesn’t do doubleheaders for a reason.

The Section V and VI D2 teams should advance to the state tournament, and Section VIII and XI D1 teams should advance. Two divisions of 4 teams, move the final to Sunday morning, and go straight up 2/3 sets (base off W-L, not Sets).

Any idea of where the stars on McQuaid and Sachem are going to college? (Aj, Nick Lynch, Mcquaid middle, Mark)

Any idea of where the stars on McQuaid and Sachem are going to college? (Aj, Nick Lynch, Mcquaid middle, Mark) The New Paltz connection is strong with some of the Sachem seniors. Both primary outsides from the D1 final could end up playing libero in college, at least for their first 1-2 years, probably a higher ceiling there just because they are a little undersized. Aj played libero his sophomore year for Sachem on a crazy good team that got upset in the county tournament, and a little bit for the ACAD 18’s last year before switching back to starting outside. If Mark or Aj were 3-4 inches taller they’d be starting at a big time school by sophomore year. Not sure about the McQuaid guys, but Id assume Lynch and the middle go D1, just because of size and athleticism. If you could clean up Lynch’s hands or even just turn him into an outside he’d be a solid D1 guy with his size and athleticism. I’ve heard a rumor about Wickens that would shock a ton of people, especially given some of the surrounding circumstances. Even Shen had some guys that were pretty solid D3, they had McQuaid for a while, but lost and just completely fell apart against Sachem North.
