McQuaid is listed on the state website with a classification of 918 students. For the 2019 season that would put them in Class B. Are they competing in Class A because they are not a public school? No, the BEDS numbers are 456, which doubled is 912. By classification standards they are D2. Section 5 does things a bit differently. If you think it’s absurd that they are allowed to compete in sectionals and states (and I agree) it would be downright criminal to have them compete in D2.

The fact that McQuaid is allowed in NYSPHSAA is absurd. It’ll be great to see them finally play Sachem North again. Those two have been 1-2 every coaches poll so far this year. How do you think Shen will match up to those two teams? Shen split with Sachem North when they came out to Long Island for the Sachem Tournament. How do the other parts of the state feel about Shen and McQuaid, and how they match up with Sachem North?

Sheesh... did not realize how many of McQuaid’s players will be starters for the Pace 18-1’s or 17-1’s this year. Sachem’s starting lineup is nearly exactly what the ACAD 18’s could be this year (with a few added in, and 1-2 moved down to 17’s). Where do Shen’s players play in the offseason?
Seems more like the finals of BANE or Can-Am than the state tournament.

Catholic schools on Long Island play Boys Volleyball in the spring. They should all coordinate to the same season and have their own playoffs.

Westhampton-Long Beach getting underway now with a little bit of a late start, if this first one doesn’t end quick, it’ll be a long night.

In the D2 match, Westhampton and Long Beach split the first two sets.
Westhampton takes the first 25-21. Long Beach led by as much as 7 in the 2nd, before tied at back up at 23-23, but Long Beach pulled the set out 27-25.
Looks like the D1 match will get started no earlier than 8:45ish.
