Looking forward to see this team tomorrow night as they play the Omaha Mavs. They went five sets when they met in Vermillion earlier this season.

Was Juhnke just overlooked or she just felt really connected to USD?
Goodness...she's a player.

Juhnke is great. Underrated in Minnesota high school, imo. Compared to some others anyhow. No, IMO, they are not capable of going 3 or 4 matches in the NCAA. But that shouldn't diminish the season they are having.

As for the team, their early woes I think were in part due to so many new people and just trying to learn how to gel. I think if they can keep improving they will enter Tourni with just the 1 loss to Iowa St. (which is better than having a 1 loss vs SFA or Arkansas State!) If they can get a favorable draw, they won't be going home right away. While I don't know if they should break the top 25 yet, I do think they are better than SFA & WKU and deserve consideration before those teams do. I like their defensive play and their never give up tenacity. What’s your beef with WKU? They are very good. I don't have a beef w/them. IMHO their schedule is too weak to be advancing them over other 1 & 2 loss teams who risked more by having a tougher schedule or tougher league. They played OhioSt when they were a mess in the beginning of the season, so I can't use that to measure them as many teams were beating Ohio St at that time like Greenbay & Tulane. They lost to Louisville hitting .031, .097, .182 & .061, seeming to only give Louisville some issues w/some blocks, other than that, they won vs a bottom of the Pac12 AZ St. with their defense & serve, but their offense seemed to have trouble putting the ball on the court. They beat an ok Samford team but Tulsa & Northern Kentucky also beat Samford that same weekend, so maybe(maybe not) that had to do more with Samford, like a player hurt or injured or sickness going around the team or something like that, b/c I would expect Samford to have beaten both of those teams even if I am not shocked that WKU beat them. Rice is the only team to measure them by and they haven't played yet. If you believe, as I do, that RICE beat Texas on a fluke once in a century match and that the SFA match is more the RICE team than the Texas match is, then I am not sure how to take a win or a loss vs RICE, for if they beat RICE it proves my point and I will have to wait til tournament to see WKU prove how good they are...if they don't beat RICE, I am not sure my opinion of RICE changes much, which means WKU would be worse than RICE...not exactly praising material. Here is what I can conclude, they have two good middle blockers for defense and Cerino serves a mean ball. Their offense relies more on Mathews and as such is prone to weak performances against teams that will take them out of system a lot. They have beat the teams they are suppose to beat, but outside the Ohio St. game, I'm not sure they have won the ones they weren't supposed to win. That roughly puts them in the lower half of the top 50 teams, until proven otherwise. Here are the non top 25 teams I believe should be ranked higher than WKU South Dakota USC UC SB Mich TA&M Louisville San Diego Georgia Florida St. Iowa St Mich St Oklahoma

Correct. Buffalo live in South Asia and Africa while bison live in America and Europe calling a bison a "buffalo" is like calling a sweet potato a "yam"

But that shouldn't diminish the season they are having. really depends on the bracket and draw...if a team like RICE gets a 15 or 16 seed, and they draw their bracket but face a non-seeded UCF or Texas St for their first match, I would have them favored in both...leading them to a 3rd game. I think 4th game would require a miracle game but it isn't unheard of.

As long as the projected seeds hold, South Dakota will be sent to one of three places - Minnesota, Nebraska or Creighton. It's hard to imagine a scenario where all three of those teams end up unseeded. South Dakota might have a chance against Creighton in a 2nd round match, but I wouldn't be too confident of their odds of beating any of those three teams on the road.

Last year, South Dakota and Creighton met in a first-round match. South Dakota brought a lot of people including a pretty impressive band and cheer section. Creighton may have swept the match, but the Coyotes won the battle of the bands.

I'd argue that they are "capable" of winning tournament matches, just not likely to go on much of a run. but that is more a matter of semantics.
