WC is obviously a huge deal though. I don't think you can brush aside that type of finish so easily. And even if they weren't full field events I'm not sure you can make a blanket statement about them being essentially 3* quality events. I know your perspective is bigger less skilled guys have disproportionally good results, but I think discounting what a young Tri accomplished with John is a bit unfair.

Beat Evandro/Pedro (#5), beat dalcena (#3), beat schalk/saxton twice (#4), losing to Evandro/Pedro in the semis. Lot of quality wins there to declare it a “Claes style finish.” Either way his path to the top involves getting more technical, more disciplined, more consistent. Casey is the perfect partner for that. Then 2021 If (big if) Taylor intelligently picks chase in 2021, Troys best case is Chaim. If he decides to go defender, 2021 ideal partner choice is Jake Gibb.

Enjoying the discussion about the top teams, anyone with any info on new partnerships further down the ladder? See any new practice groups down at the beach?

They played 19 events that year. The WC were the only one where they beat a top tier team. The Evandro/Pedro win was in a pool play game. All teams advanced from pools in that event, no one was eliminated. They lost to 11 qualifiers that year and the best teams they beat outside the WC, were Adrian, Mexico, and Doppler/Horst. Tri loves to talk about how they got cheated out of qualifying because of the country quota but I believe they finished the year in a tie for 15th (the last qualifying spot) bombsaway I remember watching the first 2 of those events and Tri/John got beaten by the first good teams they played in both (and the third but I didnt see that one). Only Sochi had a better field than an average 3 star and Tri/Bourne didnt beat anyone in that event either.

Also "Young Tri" was 4 years older than Anders Mol is right now

For me the most interesting question in the mens field is where does Benesh end up Guest2 care to take a guess? Completely uneducated guess would be probably Beranek. With Kolinske out of play, and Eric having stated he wants a long term partner that seems the most reasonable. I would guess they may have MD points Best case scenario would be Miles Evans although that would feel like a big step down for Miles Fantasy would be Madison McKibbin Other realistic options: Loomis, Frish, Rosie (Rosie is better than those guys and in theory would be a great partner but he started out with Chase playing magnificent volleyball and gradually sunk down to the level Chase was at, I dont feel like Rosie is suited to the team leader role unless its with another player with a lot of experience ala Trevor)

Just Confirmed Beranek and Benesh for this season. He had people guess on Insta and I got it right I was impressed with Benesh while playing with Adam Roberts last season. Good young up and coming big for Eric. Both could use some more seasoning with a veteran player but this upcoming season will be a good learning year for them and I could see them making some good finishes.

BerBen should get in the top 12-15 autos. Andy's bad Chicago finish will drop them a bit lower than they'll play. I'm buying a ticket on this wagon, I hope they stick it out a whole season. I expect this team to hit a couple AVPNext tournaments before the season starts too, hopefully we can get some of them streamed.

He can still play at a very high level but he needs his partner to handle his side. He did great bringing Lee along for the one tournament but if that was long term Lee would have to improve at a significant rate or Rosie's game would change and not for the better.

I hope Benesh revamped those lobster claws he used for hands last year.
