I believe VCU/Cal was the only miss. I can agree with this. There are going to be a ton of disagreements (I have mine). VCU is the real headscratcher and the chairpersons reason for including them is nonsensible. I think the rest of it is just random and luck of the draw.

VCU being in is a head-scratcher, but Cal being out is not that big of a snub for me. Not a good enough RPI. Bad finish. Bad non-conference scheduling.

Committee Chair Michelle Durban on the Last 4 in: Illinois: "We felt like the body of work in the Big 10 gave them the nod" VCU: "No losses under 100"Washington State: "Two big wins over Washington" Wright State: "had some good Top 50 wins" Cal is over here like B*tch neither did we and we actually beat some good teams !!!!!!! Not that it should've really mattered, but Oregon ended up outside the Top 100.

Illinois had a bad RPI and lost to Northwestern this weekend Non-Conference Strength of Schedule: Cal: #141 Illinois: #37 Last 10: Cal: 3-7 Illinois: 7-3 If I had a vote, not sure who I'd pick. But there were definitely some glaring warts on Cal's resume.

Cal lost to Oregon. But 4-8 vs. top 50 > 1-3. Illinois vs. Cal would be an interesting comparison. That body of work with a loss to Northwestern yesterday and they beat Purdue and OSU twice. OK, that body was comatose.

Bad non-conference scheduling. Cal and VCU were adjacent to each other in RPI. VCU's "strong finish" included 1 win over a Top 100 team over October and November (Cal had 6 in that time period). Cal and VCU both scheduled two tourney teams in the non-conference. Cal beat both, VCU lost both. The Committee's parameters don't really hold up to scrutiny, which is why they don't allow follow-up questions.

If theyre actually looking at secondary criteria — their poor finish came with Mirkovic injured. Cal was playing better when she returned — almost winning in Seattle.

Looking at the Selection nitty gritty — VCU over Cal is just the worst. It’s worse than High Point. Yep

I would agree on the 32 at larges. South Dakota is a bit of wildcard because of that RPI, but I agree that is probably isn't good enough to compensate for zero T50 wins. I also agree that South Carolina is the most vulnerable of those you have making it. I kind of think the last spot comes down to SD, SC, or one of those Horizon teams. Since there are two Horizon teams, it seems difficult to take one w/o the other so they may both be out. To the committee's credit, South Carolina was not the last team in. They weren't even in the last 4. I never expected to be praising the committee, but here I am.

Oh boy, did the Committee screw up VCU over Cal. None of their 6-7 criteria make it make sense. It had to be some kind of bribe.

I had South Carolina in - but surprised they weren't at least among the last 4 in.
