This one has the makings of a barn burner (aka 5 set Washington or USC tournament matches of lore) that we talk about for a long time. Hawaii will have to play lights out, and I believe they will. So glad Jollie is back. She may not be 100% but she brings an energy that elevates everyone around her. I want to see Hawaii - Nebraska. Lets get this one and make it happen!

Easier to get the match up you want blocking Froehling with a taller left side vs a taller right side, this the dilemma for tonight.

The last time we hosted in 2013 is was Emily Hartong's senior year and BYU out of the WCC swept us out of the Stan. This year, hosting again and San Diego out of the WCC is our opponent. Hopefully it's a better outcome this time around. In the First round BYU won a barn burner over Arizona State of the PAC-12. This year San Diego won over the Cougars of the PAC-12! Deja vu all over again?

I'm really interested to see what lineup the coaches come up with. Can't wait to drop a set before we make changes. Need to start with our strongest group. Jolie on the right or left? Iosia for 3 or 6 rotations? Who lines up against Frohling? Iosia hits better than JR and Vig. Iosia sets better than Choy. For the record if Hawaii were a respected team like Barca, PSG, Man City, Liverpool, Juve, etc RAM would've been fired mid-season. The concept of fielding players who are significantly statistically worse because you relate to them better over other players doesn't exist in real sports, but if it did would be nipped in the bud before I ever had time to complain on a forum. And the TV commentators wouldn't be whitewashing the situation going along with this absurd dog and pony show. We are talking worse than Ulmer here, this is Sealy level nepotism now. I didn't create this ugliness but I have a duty to witness the truth.

Take your comments and shove them up your anus. And GTFO off of our bandwagon! You have been reported.

Massey has San Diego as a 60% favorite, which sounds about right.
it's largely about Hawaii's OHs. for top level D1, they don't really overwhelm.
so basically can Hawaii compensate with solid serve-receive and grind out a win.

Northern Colorado’s serve/pass game was better than Hawaii’s for the first two sets last night then Hawaii settled down and turned the tide. Serve/pass is going to be a huge factor in tonight’s match.
Both Hawaii and San Diego have grown since the first meeting. Amber and Hannah were playing in their first matches for Hawaii back in that first match up. Their games have grown tremendously since the first meeting. Frohling didn’t play against Hawaii and she is a big part of the Torero team now, she’ll be a handful too. Robyn’s advantage is being able to mix and match personnel as the game dictates.
I know a lot of people are picking San Diego to advance but I don’t see that happening. I said that I preferred to see Hawaii face Wazzu in the 2nd round because they’d be the easier match up (imho), but going into tonight’s match, I feel good about Hawai’i. They were a little too excited coming out last night so the nerves should be gone. They need to pass well and get their middles involved early, and do a good job of tracking San Diego’s hitters. Robyn will have them ready, then it’s just a matter of following the game plan. It’s good to have Jolie back.
Go Bows!

Unlike past years, Hawaii is not a MASSIVE underdog. They were severely outgunned vs Baylor last year and Illinois the prior year, and MANY other times throughout the seasons, but Robyn always found a way to make the team competitive. With actual firepower, I fully expect us to take this! I had Hawaii winning even before I knew jolie would return, and even more so now.
Go bows!!
