From the transcript of today's Regional press conference:
Q. What was your reaction to Khat Bell's speech against U.C. Santa Barbara and the reaction from outside to Khat giving the speech? HEAD COACH JERRITT ELLIOTT: Oh, it's a good question. You know, everything was happening so fast in that game. I was trying to figure out matchups, so when you start dialing it, there's so many different matchups, because each tournament affects how we go about it.
Obviously there's going to be great reaction to it. It's something that, you know, obviously we didn't want to happen. To me, it's what college athletics is about, too, a little bit. Not that it was -- again, something that was appropriate or done -- wish someone would have stopped her to get on the bench area.
But to see that you have an alumni that actually cares that much. They don't get to see it but all of our alumni reach out and they are passionate about it. I think that hit home with them a little bit; that one of them that has actually walked before them cares so much. It was a unique situation that will never happen again.

You left out the quote where Elliott said he didn’t even know it happened until after the match: “You know, what happened was, it happened so fast, I didn’t even realize until after the match that she went into the huddle and talked to them.”
Not sure what to tell you. I simply copied/pasted from the .pdf transcript, and added some formatting. Good thing I added a link to the official transcript so folks could read it verbatim.

She didn't break any rules and you all know it. I think all the haters are just jealous that UT has such awesome support from awesome former players. i.e. get over it LOL that possibly simultaneously as you were posting that, Elliot in his press conference was saying that it was something they didn't want to happen and was not appropriate, even though he was proud of the alumni spirit that motivated it. I note that his comment about it being "a unique situation that will never happen again" perfectly dovetails with the guidelines for a Level 3 infraction. I'm sure it was impressed upon the whole program that if it did happen again that would elevate it to a Level 2 type of problem.

Elliott is a smart man, a good leader, a great coach. And UT is a great school with a dynamite program that he has built.
Of the top 70 or so DI programs in America I wonder how many don't have some passionate former players who are still heavily invested in their school and team. Heck, some end up being coaches.
So that's not something exclusive to UT.
But I suspect he wanted to send a message to the school's fans and supporters. And the last line suggests he may have been sending a message to the NCAA as well.
Case closed. Now if you could only close a thread.

Case closed. Now if you could only close a thread. Coach Elliott made some comments. Folks can interpret them as they like, or read between the lines if there were any. Doesn't sound like there will be additional comments (from Texas) on this matter this week, especially with the regional starting tomorrow afternoon.
Hope everyone can now enjoy all the matches on Friday!

Man you and me both like to have last word. This thread can go on for quite a while. Don’t you have a game thread you would rather be on.

I really thought I was done, but HAD to post this as I just came across it from the Austin newspaper!
www.hookem.com/2019/12/12/jerritt-elliott-on-khat-bells-pep-talk-it-was-a-unique-situation-that-will-never-happen-again/
During a second-round match against UC Santa Barbara this past Friday, former Texas All-American Khat Bell exited the stands to give the Longhorns a pep talk.
Bell was a member of UT’s 2012 championship team. She is, however, not currently employed by Texas.
Bell later told the American-Statesman that “It’s important to have someone that has come before them to inspire them and let them know that I’ve been here before and I know how to get there. I told them that right now, we’re a little messy with a few individual plays, but it’s time to come together as a team and put the game away.”
Bell entered the Texas huddle between the third and fourth sets. UT trailed 2-1 at the time but rallied to beat the Gauchos in five sets.
The appearance of Bell in the UT huddle instantly became a talking point online. As of Thursday afternoon, a thread on the popular message board Volleytalk had over 800 posts about the incident. A second thread had 84 responses. Some defended Bell while others wondered if she had violated NCAA rules.
Speaking at a press conference on Thursday, Texas coach Jerritt Elliott had mixed feelings about the pep talk. Elliott said he did not see Bell on the floor and was instead worrying about substitution patterns. Elliott was glad to see that kind of enthusiasm from a former player, but he also felt that Bell’s actions were inappropriate.

We’re famous. Congratulations to everyone for making this happen and Horns1 for the tireless work he put in arguing every other message that came up. mVP? Possibly. Your up against a heavy hitter in Tomclen though. 😆

All I wanted for Christmas this year was to be left off the All-Villain Team!
Please don't vote for me (again) !

Prisioner as a Texas fan puts hours and hours of work into everything on the forums and prob doesn’t get the credit he deserves then Tomclen comes along prob spends 5 minutes putting together both threads and his work is in the Texas news. ( and he’s not even Texas fan). That’s gotta be rough. 😂😂😃😃
