I really thought I was done, but HAD to post this as I just came across it from the Austin newspaper!
www.hookem.com/2019/12/12/jerritt-elliott-on-khat-bells-pep-talk-it-was-a-unique-situation-that-will-never-happen-again/
During a second-round match against UC Santa Barbara this past Friday, former Texas All-American Khat Bell exited the stands to give the Longhorns a pep talk.
Bell was a member of UT’s 2012 championship team. She is, however, not currently employed by Texas.
Bell later told the American-Statesman that “It’s important to have someone that has come before them to inspire them and let them know that I’ve been here before and I know how to get there. I told them that right now, we’re a little messy with a few individual plays, but it’s time to come together as a team and put the game away.”
Bell entered the Texas huddle between the third and fourth sets. UT trailed 2-1 at the time but rallied to beat the Gauchos in five sets.
The appearance of Bell in the UT huddle instantly became a talking point online. As of Thursday afternoon, a thread on the popular message board Volleytalk had over 800 posts about the incident. A second thread had 84 responses. Some defended Bell while others wondered if she had violated NCAA rules.
Speaking at a press conference on Thursday, Texas coach Jerritt Elliott had mixed feelings about the pep talk. Elliott said he did not see Bell on the floor and was instead worrying about substitution patterns. Elliott was glad to see that kind of enthusiasm from a former player, but he also felt that Bell’s actions were inappropriate.
Basically any reasonable person saw this situation that way from the jump. A rule was broken, it wasn’t broken in an attempt to gain an advantage. Elliot here is clearly trying to to establish he wasn’t aware of what she did as he was focused on The things he should be. This point is obviously been debated by people who were in proximity. If you had to translate his comments it would be “ yes a well intentioned former player broke a rule she wasn’t even aware of. We accept that it shouldn’t have happened, but I love the spirit in which it was intended”

If it weren't for me posting those comments from the transcript I have to admit, this is true.

I still want to know how a true Texas fan prisioner puts In a ton of work and isn’t recognized and Tomclen puts in 5 mins of work and is in Texas news. That’s for sure getting framed on his wall😆😆😆
A Washington fan getting his work in the Texas news that had absolutely nothing to do with Washington. I said it before and I’ll say it again, pure genius 👏👏

Well, do any of those reasonable people post on this message board? That would be a big fat NO !

Still from Texas while Tomclen started with cupcakes and graduated to the news. 😂😂

Elliott is a smart man, a good leader, a great coach. And UT is a great school with a dynamite program that he has built. Of the top 70 or so DI programs in America I wonder how many don't have some passionate former players who are still heavily invested in their school and team. Heck, some end up being coaches. So that's not something exclusive to UT. But I suspect he wanted to send a message to the school's fans and supporters. And the last line suggests he may have been sending a message to the NCAA as well.
Case closed. Now if you could only close a thread. How is it that nobody has highlighted the most important part of the article: "As of Thursday afternoon, a thread on the popular message board Volleytalk had over 800 posts about the incident. A second thread had 84 responses. Some defended Bell while others wondered if she had violated NCAA rules"Damn it, horns1 , you highlighted that quote in a colore that literally disappeared on my background!Yeah, I saw your post before you edited, and chuckled. Almost as bad as when you mis-read my post about fans of most teams preferring to be placed in the "Pittsburgh regional" (a.k.a the Stanford regional) . . .

I think there were plenty of posts that said “that’s illegal” but it wasn’t a federal crime.

It would be closed if horns1 didn’t have a response to every single comment. He’s single handidly keeping this thread alive 😁 You are so ungrateful! If it weren't for me posting those comments from the transcript, none of us would get any closure before the start of the first regional semi-final match on Friday! In my book, I'm a hero!
You’re misguided and think a lot of yourself. I swear if Elliott was caught on video shooting someone dead for no reason, you would be saying it was self defense. You would be fighting his death row conviction. LMAO

I wonder what Elliot has said to bell about the situation I would think you would have so many better things to 'wonder' about on such a great volleyball day like today . . .
