This occurred during intermission during sets not during the match or during a timeout. At our venue they pulled a random fan from the bleachers to get out on the middle of the court and guess the emoji movie title during those times. Cheerleaders were also out on the court during timeouts. Interesting that cheerleaders in Minneapolis weren't allowed out of their taped area to cheer during timeouts and intermissions. We had a lot of violations going on all weekend. But hey I hate it when context gets in the way of a good anti-Texas post by the heralded Big 10 experts, so carry on. It happened during a match. With all due respect the context people are giving simply doesn’t matter. It’s not very good judgement on her part, and if Texas coaches did see it, bad judgement to not ask her to stop and return to seat. Listen, it wasn’t a federal offense, I’m sure she meant well, but this should t have happened, and it should be addressed. I don't care whether or not it was appropriate or unusual. The anti-Texas contingent on this board thinks everything Texas does is inappropriate - from Destinee Hooker celebrating points, to Jerritt waving his clipboard to egg on the crowd, to Khat Bell tweeting. Here's another newsflash, water is wet. If it needs to be addressed it'll be addressed with Sullivan and Events Staff. End of story. It hardly warrants its own thread on volleytalk where people are making up %*$# like former players were waving assistants out of the huddle (you can go to the 1:29:57 mark of the WatchESPN video by the way to dispel that one).

I'm confused by those who say she gave a motivational fire-em-up pep talk and wasn't coaching or doing x's & o's.
I've been close enough to the bench at plenty of games to hear the assistant coaches doing x's a& o's and the head coach doing the ass-kicking, motivational pep talks. Motivational pep talks are part of coaching.
(By the way, I'm not part of nor aware of any anti-Texas contingent.)

I don't think the UT coaches "allowed her" to give the speech. Their Assistant Coaches (particularly the male one - who was talking to the team when Khat jumped in) seemed annoyed and walked off... “Walked away” is by definition allowed. Impossible for me to imagine a Stanford, Minnesota, PSU, Nebraska player and coaches doing that. Oh I'm not disputing they permitted it. I'm just saying I don't think they were happy that Khat inserted herself into the situation.

I’d be interested to find out if she was invited down to the bench or if she invited herself.

Is there any video of this, when did it occur?

Admitting that is the first step on the road to healing. As to this issue generally....

This is too much to wade through. If something official happens, tell or tag me. Otherwise, I’m excited for Louisville on Friday.

Since some of you don’t think this is a big deal, then you would be ok with a disgruntled former Texas star entering the UCSB huddle and saying, “Coach Welch has given me permission to be down here. I’ll make this quick. You guys are doing great, now here’s a couple things I wanted to point out ...”.
Should the Khat Bell incident be deemed a violation, and Texas finds itself facing Baylor, maybe in the Final Four, they should move that match (and only that match) to Waco.

I just can’t believe that she thought she should do this, and that the coaches allowed it. The legal part to me is secondary.

If a former player has to come down to the court in a middle of a tourny match that Texas should win I feel to me that would kind of show up coaches. You have to have a former alum who’s never won a championship herself come on the floor cause coaches don’t know how to do there job? Just think it looks bad and I know everyone is gonna have different takes. Like I said before if you were gonna do that atleast have it be hooker so we can try and get her back to national team before olympics lol

It was also aired on TV and if it was against rules I think the commentators would have Sid something about it.

You can’t just have former alum coming down onto the floor in middle of match Only players part of team or staff should be on floor during match. If they look up to her as you say then have her give pregame talk but not on floor in middle of match
