Wolfgang, I did not mean that it was a surprised. Just that Bailey Choy's transfer was not announced till after the Spring season, if I am not mistaken. What I was trying to say is, the next transfer if there is on, will probably occur after the Spring season, just like Choy's transfer. Has has shown interest in a DS/Libero in the portal. Now if that DS/Libero shows interest back is another question. Didn't I see that Megan Miller was in the portal? Did she play in the last game vs Nebraska? I know she DS'd or Serving subbed regularly, I want to say for Jazz Sweet? Believe she had the libero jersey on a few times during the year as well. Wonder if UH reached out.

I don't want to see Byrd setting in any primary role.
Lang needs development in the middle but she's the potential caliber we need.

Some are too quick to count players out. Players can improve. Look at Sky, McKenna and Okino. None of them were counted on to do much this season with Ross and Okino not even starting but at the end of the year, these three were a important part of the success.
Byrd will have about 8 month before the season start so she will have ample time to develop into a serviceable setter. Don’t need to be a superstar but be one who will not lose a match for you.

I hope Mylana Byrd tempers her expectations of the Univ of Hawaii. While I think her volleyball experience will be great, the rest...not so much compared to Alabama. The Univ of Alabama has a large and spacious campus with beautiful traditional red brick buildings. It just oozes $$$. It also has a great campus spirit in NUMBERS which far exceed that of other schools. The Univ of Hawaii will pale in comparison. However, the state of Hawaii is much more scenic and pleasant than the state of Alabama.

Agree.....we have capable (when healthy) hitters. Byrd or Lang needs to be the setter that sets a consistent ball and the hitters can do the work.

She's in the portal and about the same level as Hanawahine. We can do better.

Jordan to Cal Poly Told ya'll Hawaii would be seeing her again lol No biggie. Hawaii stopped her once. Hawaii can stop her again. Her stat line vs. Hawaii: 2 sets played, 6-7-31, -0.032.

Do you think there's any chance that either Ah Mow or Angelica Ljungqvist would take a head coach job elsewhere for a substantial pay hike? USC, for example?
I always thought Ljungqvist would make a near perfect head coach. Former All-American, former national player of the year, female, smart, everyone respects her. I may even prefer her over Ah Mow for the Hawaii head coach job. LOL! The thing is, she's an attorney in Sweden so I don't know what her current employment arrangement is with Hawaii. Also, I think she may be very loyal to the Univ of Hawaii, the State of Hawaii, and Ah Mow. But $$$ talks.
I'm pretty sure USC can pay anyone from Hawaii a LOT MORE $$$ than Hawaii can. And Ah Mow has several mouths to feed, as the saying goes.

But USC does not have the same fan, school and community supports like Hawaii. Sure....Ah Mow or any coach can go to USC and earn some extra money but their program will be an afterthought with no TV, newspaper or radio coverage. At USC, volleyball is just another minor(Olympic) sports. In Hawaii, it have big time media coverage and big time support.
Being part of a program that can galvanized the community is something you want your program to be. Everybody in town talk Wahine/Warrior volleyball when they do good. In Los Angles, nobody cares.
There is also an issue of whether or not they want to live in Los Angeles. The LA of today is not the same as when they were youngsters and everybody wanted part of the California dream. Still a nice place to live but is getting expensive, have social issues, and faces a exodus of people leaving there.
San Diego, I love the city. Los Angeles and San Francisco. I don't care for them anymore.
