How do you get access to the transfer portal? From my understanding, only NCAA compliance officers at each school and coaches have access to the portal. Even the student-athletes themselves don't have access. (Someone can correct me if I'm wrong.)

Lmao, that would be a mess waiting to happen, every top player would have her DMS filled with all these nutjobs telling them to transfer to their program.

The member institution designates who has access to the portal. That would usually include compliance officers and coaches, but it could also include other administrators or staff. The Athletic Conference compliance staff (and perhaps other staff there) have access, and some NCAA staff as well. I came across this article that makes the argument that the transfer portal should be public because it creates a "black market" based on rumor and selective leaking of names in the portal. The argument is interesting, but probably misguided. www.cornnation.com/2019/1/17/18186905/access-to-the-ncaa-transfer-portal-should-be-given-to-the-public-alabama-oklahoma-ohio-state

I am expecting a stronger, more dynamic, Jolie Rasmussen come 2020. It looked to me that Jolie was in the weight room a lot while she was injured. It did not really show when she did return to action, due to timing issues. Just hoping Jolie can finally go through a season injury free, and lead the Wahine to a Final Four appearance.

Wondering if Baylor will be one of the feature teams in one of the Wahine tournaments next year. Thinking maybe Robyn and the Baylor coach had an agreement where, the Wahine played in the Baylor tournament this past year, with Baylor playing in one of the Wahine tournaments in 2020.

Andrews, the recruit that visited us this past week or two has committed to Baylor. Lets hope Hawaii can land a 2021 recruit soon! Ouch, the Hawaii sweatshirt she was wearing was just a facade then? She would have been better off at Hawaii if she was interested in beach. Oh well... Hoping Hawaii can get some international talent for 2021. Seems to be a plausible way to get the program beyond the Sweet 16

Jhenna Gabriel > Ashley Shook I think that's what ievb is saying: Shook might leave bc she has Gabriel, who is better, and Cabello, who is potentially better, in front of her at Texas.
I wouldn't leave a team I liked in my senior year for more playing time but Shook might feel differently. Her major is "Human Dimensions of Organizations" so there's a good chance that many of her credits wouldn't transfer. Rasmussen said that many of her credits didn't transfer (and she's a math major where the classes are likely to be similar at UH and UO). That's a big negative for a senior, especially when you only have a scholarship for one year (and will pay out of state tuition for non-scholarship years).
Exactly but I just feel like a player in her position in particular with her accolades growing up has invested too much of her energy and time into this sport to not see how far she could take herself if she regains her confidence. Again, completely plausible that she gets it all together and does it at Texas but I just think a fresh start can do an athlete a lot of good. It’s not a for sure that she would start over Lang, but I think it would be ideal to be somewhere where you don’t have any past baggage to contend with mentally. I know the credits will be an issue, that major almost sounds made up lol. But I mean going from an All-American(HM) Freshman season to being a 1-2nd string reserve because a coach might be more concerned with their programs future than your own future. Idk, I just don’t know of any other setters of her caliber in her particular predicament and Hawaii has the biggest setting need next year of any Sweet 16 team as far as I can tell.

Could have been pressure form mom and dad to find something “better”. Some parent like the idea of their kid at big name schools so they can say their kid is at such such school. That fact that she waited long for her decision make me think she was probably torn.

Baylor and Hawaii--you could not have two more different cultures on school campuses lol.
Remember that sometimes people also change their mind and come back. Rasmussen mentioned Hawaii recruited her and she went with Oregon and then she remembered Hawaii when she was looking to transfer...

We almost *never* go on road games in the OOC Season. Mainly because they lose revenue from home matches. The fact that we went there is really weird. To my knowledge no one from the team is from that area. (Although they mentioned Igiede's family were "hosting").
Even if Baylor promised to come back, it would still be weird, we don't have a shortage of teams that want to travel to the islands and they had no idea Baylor was going to be this good. (I don't think Baylor had any idea they would be this good)
