The Olympic year is here!! Let's start things off by discussing the 2020 VNL Roster by positions!
For the purpose of clarity please note the following:
1. The following opposites are listed on the USWNT roster homepage and thus MUST be considered in the above poll: Cuttino, A. Drews, Lee, Lowe, Plummer, Rivers and Thompson.
2. The remaining names listed are some of the top players currently playing professionally over seas, have already played some with the national team, or are the top talent in the NCAA that are at least juniors or seniors during this current year: Abercrombie, Atkinson, Fitzmorris, Samedy and Sweet.
Please....if you feel the need to select another player not listed please do so accompanied by an explanation. I would ask that for clarity's sake that you all refrain from tossing in players just because they play for your favorite school or just because you "like" them. That doesn't serve the purpose of this thread at all.
Please vote for THREE to FOUR players and post why you choose who you did.
Thanks friends!

Before you ask.....why Jazz Sweet? She is a lefty and she plays for Nebraska and I think Karch drinks Cook's cool-aid. I also think Samedy being from Minnesota plays into her likelihood of trying out because of McCutcheon.
.....in case you all were wondering where my head was at with the poll selections.

QUICK UPDATE!
Please vote based on which players you would choose for the roster! I really need to edit the poll question but that requires deleting the poll and retyping all of those names.....which I don't wanna do.
Also please cast ALL of your allotted votes!

This thread is weak sauce. Everyone knows who the top 3 are. It will be more interesting to see how Karch fields the Tokyo team. The opposite position was the biggest problem area for the last Olympics. Might not be a bad idea to bring three opposites.

I wouldn't really expect Fitzmorris to go, but I think she's a stronger prospect than several on the list.

Honestly just bring Annie, Jordan and Karsta. They need all the experience and opportunity to help in the decision as to whom Karch will bring to Tokyo. Let the others go to PanAms.

I am guessing this will be less a year to bring in new blood and more a year to get your Olympics roster in sync. So, I am going with the Big 3

There were 4 OPs on last years roster - Just Sayin. Indeed there were. That might be the case again. I debated whether or not to just do one thread with one massive poll and just ask everyone to vote as balanced as possible but i know some posters would vote for every single athlete in one category and none in another. Maybe the better plan should have been a separate thread and poll for who should join the NT but I kinda wanted to combine my efforts there.

All of the other threads like this show a wide discrepancy of votes. Having three solid options is a good problem to have don't you think?

I was being sarcastic using the term weak sauce which is an annoying phrase that Karch coined. The point is that it's obvious who the top 3 are which is what the poll was asking. The more interesting thing will be if he takes all three to Tokyo or takes only 2 and which ones they are.

It would put the team in a similar but slightly worse position than we saw in Rio with 3 setters. He will take 4 OH's. All 4 of the core (Larson, Hill, Robinson and MBH) bring much more to the table.
