The Olympic year is HERE! Let's start things off by discussing the 2020 VNL Roster by positions!
For the purpose of clarity please note the following:
1. The following Liberos are listed on the USWNT roster homepage and thus MUST be considered in the above poll: Wong-Orantes, Robinson, Lake, Courtney and Benson.
2. The remaining names listed are some of the top talent from the NCAA who are either graduating, are seniors next year, or are already going pro/could get a NT invitation to train: Hentz, White, Clark, Maloney and Curry.
Please if you feel the need to select another not listed player please do so accompanied by an explanation. I would ask that for clarity's sake that you all refrain from tossing in players just because they play for your favorite school or just because you "like" them. That doesn't serve the purpose of this thread at all.
Please vote for THREE or FOUR players and post why you choose who you did.
Thanks friends!

I put Megan Courtney on the OH thread. I do think she will travel with the team as an OH and can be played as a Libero if needed. I just have a feeling the JWO and Lake are going to be battling it out for the starting Libero spot. I would also throw Hentz in the mix if she does indeed tryout for the NT. If Hentz and White join the ranks then we have ourselves a race with JWO having the slight advantage having played overseas this season.

QUICK UPDATE!
Please vote based on which players you would choose for the roster! I really need to edit the poll question but that requires deleting the poll and retyping all of those names.....which I don't wanna do.
Also please cast ALL of your allotted votes!

Karch talked so much about Clark during that last match up in Madison Regionals…wouldn't be surprised. Crossing fingers.

Clark made the JNT and YNT and played over Hentz bc of her reception skills at the time. They played with the mikasa ball. Maybe they is a chance Clark could have a shot at being able to pass that ball at a high level since most struggle with that

Megan Courtney was the starting libero for every important match in 2019 (and I don’t remember her playing OH with the A team recently). It’s silly to not have her in this thread.

It's absurd to not include Courtney on this list. She has basically been holding down the starting spot and Karch recently said while commentating on a BYU match that the three vying for the libero spot in the Olympics are Courtney, JWO, and Lake. It would be absurd to think that Courtney wouldn't be considered for the libero roster spots on one of the only major tournaments before the Olympics. I would take Karch's statement at the BYU match as a better indicator than your "feeling."

I would love to see Hentz, Clark and White in the gym. Would definitely add a lot of juice to the position group.

Karch has been saying for almost two years that Megan Courtney is Plan A for L at the Tokyo Olympics. I know that infuriates all of you anti-Nittanyites, but that's just the way it is. It is ridiculous to leave her off this list.

It is ridiculous to leave her off this list. The doubt at her spot as Tokyo LIB iterally has nothing to do with her being a Penn State alum and more of her instability during high-stakes matches and the obvious lack of commitment to that role. But go ahead and use the Nittany eklavu to forward your point.

In light of his comments, it is ridiculous to leave her off this list. Doing so is nothing more than wishful thinking that a Penn Stater will be left off the roster.

I agree with Courtney still being in the running as with JWO and Lake. However, it is completely dumb to think that Karch's comments still lie true about Courtney being ahead over anyone in terms of getting the nod for Tokyo. Sure, that might have been the case pre-JWO resurgence and Lake introduction, but to still subscribe to the notion that Courtney is #1 is basically just wishful thinking, as well.

IMO Lake is not good enough to have a spot on the VNL roster, let alone the Olympic roster. Sure she did some ok things last year when she got to play, but I would rather see Hentz and White get opportunities to play at that level than keep on going with Lake who I believe has hit her ceiling. Based on this past NCAA season when they played tough competition, Lake was just not it giving me no reason to believe that she would have improved enough to compete for a spot at the highest level.
